Who is bodybuilder Robby Robinson?
Robby Robinson, known as The Black Prince, is considered to be one of the all-time greatest bodybuilders.
He was born on May 24, 1946, in Georgia and was raised in Tallahassee, Florida.
Robinson attended Florida A&M University – where he competed in various sports building his love for fitness.
The weightlifter rose to success during the 1970s Golden Era in the industry.
The great-grandfather has competed in more than 62 competitions and won 16 of them.
After decades as a successful athlete, he decided to step off the stage for good due an illness.
Although he retired in 2001, Robby continues to keep up a strict workout routine.
The former professional bodybuilder now works as a mentor and coach passing his experience to the upcoming generation of athletes.

He has published several popular books in the fitness community – including The Black Prince, Built, and The Perfect Rep.
When did Robby Robinson start bodybuilding?
The strongman found his passion for bodybuilding while stationed in Germany as a member of the US Army.
In the 1970s he left the military and embarked on a journey of weightlifting as a profession.
After competing in hundreds of amateur competitions, he decided to become professional in 1975.
He participated in various contests and was quickly able to scoop top champion titles.
At the time, he secured the Mr. America title, succeeded by the titles of Mr. World and Mr. Universe in 1977.
His popularity in the weightlifting community meant he was able to land roles in popular films.
He featured in the documentary film 'Pumping Iron' – which catapulted him to stardom.
The film follows the athlete inside his professional bodybuilding world alongside well-known bodybuilders Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno.
Years later, Robinson had a minor part in The Sting II, a sequel to the popular movie The Sting in 1983.
Has Robby Robinson competed at Mr Olympia?
Robby has taken part in the renowned Mr. Olympia contest – achieving consistent top-five placements.
He went on to win many IFBB contests, including the first annual Night of the Champions in 1979 as well as the first Masters Olympia in 1994.
