Great British Bake Off star reduced to tears after viewer comments

GBBO: Dana’s chocolate horse-drawn carriage doesn’t go to plan

The Great British Bake Off 2023 star Dana Conway has been reduced to tears over comments from fans.

The 25-year-old said she had been “crying” as she reacted on Instagram today, after being praised for her positive thinking and inspirational mindset during the popular Channel 4 baking show.

One viewer, who observed her efforts during a Chocolate Week task, suggested: “All the bakers seem to have struggled there, but Dana remains such a positive force despite every attack.

“She couldn’t get her horse’s legs out of the mould, so as a result she presented them without legs, saying: ‘They’re all sitting down.’

“Always with a smile on her face!” the viewer marvelled.

Another gushed: “Dana deserves her own show. Maybe one called ‘Dana does’, in which she tries her hand at something new each week, and remains upbeat if things don’t go to plan.

“Her positivity is needed in these times.”

Dana, who has 2,360 Instagram followers so far, reposted the comments, confessing: “This made me cry.”

The keen baker had also shared images earlier from her Disney-esque creation, which depicted a white chocolate carriage being pulled along by two horses.

The tasty treat looked fit for a princess – were it not for the fact that the horses scarcely had legs.

Addressing the matter again in another Instagram Stories slide, Dana laughed off the mishap.

“It’s hard work pulling a princess carriage and the horses just needed a little lay down,” she joked, punctuating her comment with two kisses.

“To make a sphere box out of white chocolate is a complete challenge in itself and [I’m] super proud of it,” she continued.

Dana has been baking for almost a decade after first trying her hand at it aged 16 – but 2023 was the year that she won her much longed for place on Bake Off, alongside 11 other hopeful contestants.

According to the Romford Recorder, the Essex-born beauty had been trying to win a place on the show for four years.

“I had pretty much given up, so my expectations were set extremely low,” she explained.

“I was completely shocked to get the phone call that I had finally made it.”
