Maps reveal how the next Aslef and RMT rail strikes will affect YOU
How the next rail strikes will affect YOU: Maps reveal Aslef and RMT walkouts affecting trains across Britain including London Underground
Rail passengers across Britain face further strike misery over the next week as two unions take industrial action that will leave parts of the country with no services.
Train drivers’ union Aslef confirmed that its workers at 16 train operators will walk out on two days – this Saturday, September 30 and next Wednesday, October 4.
Aslef will also carry out an overtime ban on six days across a nine-day period – this Friday, September 29 and then Monday, October 2 until Friday, October 6.
Operators affected by Aslef’s action are Avanti West Coast, c2c, Chiltern Railways, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, Gatwick Express, Great Northern, Great Western Railway, Greater Anglia, Heathrow Express, Island Line, LNER, London Northwestern Railway, Northern, South Western Railway, Southeastern, Southern, Stansted Express, Thameslink, TransPennine Express and West Midlands Railway.
The Rail Delivery Group warned operators will try to run as many trains as possible but there will be wide regional variations, with some running no services at all.
Evening services on some lines will likely be affected on the days before each strike and morning services may also be disrupted on Sunday, October 1 and Thursday, October 5 because rolling stock will not be in the right depots.
Separately, more than 3,500 members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) will walk out across the London Underground network on October 4 and 6.
UKHospitality estimates strike disruption over the past year has cost the industry £3.5billion in lost sales – a figure which it said will rise further due to extra strikes.
As the long-running rail dispute over pay, jobs and conditions continues to impact passengers, MailOnline has looked at how the next strikes will affect your journey.
