WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Wheel of Time.
Ceara Coveney has joined the cast for Wheel of Time’s second season as Elayne Trakand – but who is she?
The Amazon Prime Video fantasy series has been missing since December 2021, so subscribers were thrilled when its return was announced.
As well as the main cast from the first season, some new faces are being welcomed into the fold, including actress Ceara Coveney.
Who is Wheel of Time season 2 star Ceara Coveney?
Wheel of Time season two sees Ceara Coveney play Elayne Trakand who is the heir to the throne of Andor, one of the most powerful kingdoms in this world.
While Elayne is a major character in Robert Jordan’s book series, including the first novel The Eye of the World, but was cut from season one in order to streamline the show.

Prior to Wheel of Time, Coveney had very limited experience on the small screen as she is relatively new to the world of acting.
Since 2019, she has done a few shorts in the shape of The Amazing World of Emma, Nothing Up My Sleeve and The Track.
It was then last year that Coveney took on the role of Mia in the detective prequel Young Wallander on Netflix.
In the four episodes she features in, Mia is the lawyer friend of Kurt Wallander’s (played by Adam Palsson) girlfriend Mona (Ellisa Chappell).

As of yet, it doesn’t look like Coveney has got anymore new projects in the works.
So, for now at least, focus remains on her new starring role in Wheel of Time on Amazon Prime Video.
Talking about her character, Decider reported: “I think the thing about Elayne is, I don’t think she ever truly stops politicking.
“She’s the Queen to be and she always has that political mind taking over.”
Coveney continued: “But I think Elayne is a deeply honorable woman.
“She’s very loyal and she is loyal to the people around her. And I think in that moment, I do think it was a genuine kind of act of taking the blame, because she knows her power and she knows her influence.”
There will be plenty more to come of Wheel of Time in the future as well with the drama already given a green light of season three.
Wheel of Time is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
