Major Hollyoaks character to be murdered in shocking whodunnit

Controversial Hollyoaks villain Rayne Royce is about to get a very violent comeuppance – as she will be murdered in a whodunnit twist in just weeks.

The character, played with expert malice by Jemma Donovan, has caused nothing but malice since her arrival in the village earlier this year – but someone will decide that it’s her turn.

There can be no shortage of suspects either, given how many residents she has targeted.

Rayne has been gaslighting and manipulating the twenty-somethings of the eponymous village for months, using some to further her career while others are pushed away in a bid to have Romeo Nightingale (Owen Warner) all to herself.

Most shockingly, she made a vile and false allegation against Prince McQueen (Malique Thompson-Dwyer), and he has now teamed up with Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell) and James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) to expose her and bring her down.

They did some particular digging into Rayne’s ex, Brent, who took his own life. In horrifying scenes, Rayne boasted that she encouraged him to do so.

But things take a turn, with Peri set to receive some truly mind-blowing information in the process.

One thing leads to another, and she’s left in serious danger after more secrets about Rayne’s past are exposed.

With Rayne closing in, Peri’s own life is in danger as she prepares to drop the bombshell on the calculating local.

Peri is missing, and those around her are petrified for her safety.

This is just scratching the surface of her evil antics, and there are several people who will want to end her reign.

But who kills her remains to be seen.

Hollyoaks has released a teaser from its upcoming trailer, showing, among other moments, many of the suspects declaring that they would choose to kill Rayne.

We also see Rayne herself declaring that the old Rayne is dead and Rayne 2.0 is here, after submerging herself in a swimming pool.

Well, she’s half right!

It’s been a story that actress Jemma Donovan has known about since she joined. On her exit, she told us: ‘I am so excited to announce that Rayne’s reign is finally coming to an end with an incredible stunt week that I am over the moon to share with.

‘You guys, it’s going to be full of drama, full of love, full of chaos but the big question is, who did it?

‘I’m so excited for the speculation. I can’t tell you – but it’s a good one so hope you all enjoy.’

The show is planning a major week of drama at the end of the month, involving stunts and a murder mystery manor, marked with an hour long special.

The mansion may be the last place Rayne sees – given the party is led by Faye Fuller (Maddy Smedley), the likeness to The Traitors can’t be ignored.

We’re not exactly sure if the murderer will be exposed on a round-table via a chalkboard, but we aren’t ruling out more similarities.

Daughter of Neighbours, theatre and pop icon Jason, Jemma has made quite the impression on fans.

At the time of the casting, she enthused: ‘I’m so grateful for this opportunity to be able to bring something unique and fun to a new role and I can’t wait to be a part of the Hollyoaks family.’

She is currently dating co-star Owen Warner, and the pair sarcastically and brilliantly dismissed recent rumours that they had split.
