ITV Coronation Street star shares 25 year announcement as they take break over health issues
Coronation Street star Alan Halsall as been part of the furniture in Weatherfield for the past 25 years, but soap fans have been missing the actor recently as he is on sick leave.
On Thursday, Alan, 41, who is at home recovering from knee surgery, took a nostalgic trip down memory lane as he marked 25 years since first appearing on screens as Tyrone Dobbs in the ITV show.
And it proved the perfect opportunity for his castmates and famous friends to let them know how much they love him and have been thinking of him, as they sent him warm wishes on Instagram.
Sharing some of his favourite snaps from episodes of Corrie over the years, Alan wrote: "Wow!! At 7:30pm a quarter of a century ago this very night, I sat and watched myself on Coronation Street for the very 1st time.
"They say time flies when you’re having fun and that saying certainly applies here !! 25 years on & I still love my job just as much as I did on day 1. I am So proud to be a small part of this show."
Alan is currently off work after having ACL surgery on his knee, and it seems his soap friends have been missing him.
Jack P Shepherd, who stars as David Platt, wrote: "Massive mate," while Gareth Pierce who plays Todd Grimshaw added: "Stone cold lej. Brilliant, mate!"
Soap stars from Corrie and beyond including Patti Clare, Colson Smith, Kelvin Fletcher, Sally Carman and Chris Fountain also commented to offer their congratulations on the milestone.
Billie Naylor, who plays daughter Ruby Dobbs, told him: "That’s amazing……I only hope I can follow in your footsteps one day x."
Corrie star Jane Danson wrote: "Aw Al – good times," while Kyran Bowes added: "Congrats mate hope your doing ok."
Andy Whyment, who has starred alongside him as Kirk Sutherland for many years, wrote: "Congratulations bro you’re a Corrie legend and always will be I’m very proud of you."
Long time castmate Samia Longchambon commented: "Alan is amazing 4eva," while Georgia Taylor wrote: "Aw huge congratulations darling. What a milestone! xxx."
Claire Sweeney offered: "This is wonderful. Congratulations," and Brooke Vincent wrote: "Go on AL! Big T there,", as Simon Gregson joked: "Who."
The actor revealed in November he had gone under the knife to fix an ACL injury as he posted a photo of his leg bandaged up in bed.
He wrote: "ACL Reconstruction surgery [tick emoji]. Well, On Friday I underwent ACL reconstruction surgery. I have been told the surgery went really well. I know I have a long 9-12 months of rehabilitation ahead of me but I’m sure with the support of family & friends I’ll get there.
"Thank you to the amazing! Staff at Oaklands xx… and also Thanks to my very own nurse Ratched @missdrewmerry93. Any rehab tips or advise??" He also tagged the location of his post as "feet up at home".
