Emmerdale: Kim speaks with Sam and Lydia

Emmerdale couple Marlon Dingle (played by Mark Charnock) and Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) could be heading for divorce following a huge decision on the ITV soap.

It has been revealed that Rhona and Marlon’s Christmas morning is ruined when he reaches breaking point with Gus and storms out of the house. After seeing Marlon, his best friend Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brint) reminds him Gus is grieving the loss of his wife and convinces him to stay around for Christmas.

Later on, Gus is overwhelmed by the incredible dinner chef Marlon has cooked and raises an emotional toast to loved ones.

However, what will happen once Christmas is over? Rhona clearly wants baby Ivy in her life, but will Gus give her up?

Speaking to Express.co.uk and other media, Marlon actor Mark shared: “I think there is a point where he will fully come around or find some compromise in himself to make it work for her.

“But that might not happen because everything is a possibility and everything is up for grabs. It’s just a fascinating place to be.”

Emmerdale fans will know Rhona used to be married to Gus and she froze her eggs with him.

However, later down the line his late wife used the embryos but died in childbirth.

“She can only see this baby, but he can see the huge legal ramifications and the ethical ramifications of it. It’s a very confusing situation.”

Will Marlon and Rhona be torn apart if a legal or ethical baby bombshell is dropped on them which prevents her from raising Ivy?

Addressing the Christmas storyline, Mark said: “At Christmas, he agrees to let them stay as they are all over the place. To have them for Christmas is a huge act of goodwill on his part to accept that.

“While he will say he accepts it, it’s like someone has just detonated a bomb in his world. It’s nothing to do with him but it could have everything to do with him.

“It is weird having one of her ex-husbands in the house, it is affecting the kids. The baby is keeping them up at night and they don’t understand the situation. It’s brilliant dramatically, it’s brilliant.”

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
