Countdowns Susie Dent addresses cancer scare after co-star spotted sign on TV
Susie Dent reveals how she got onto Countdown
Susie Dent opened up about a recent health scare after a make-up artist on Countdown raised concerns.
Speaking to Chris Evans on Virgin Radio’s breakfast show, the Countdown star detailed how she had to get a mole checked as she feared it could have been cancer.
She explained: “I had one under my eye, a few years ago now.
“And it just felt like a little cut. So it was a kind of linear one and just wouldn’t heal.
“And I just kept putting lots of different cream on it.”

She added: “So, I had it for too long. I had it for about a year.
“My GP said, ‘I’m going to say the word carcinoma, but don’t panic.’ And then they took it off, they kind of excised it.
“So, I’ve got a bit of a kind of scar under my eye.”
She went on to explain she was now in good health and was thankful the makeup artists had pointed it out.

Host Chris has recently revealed he himself has been undergoing treatment for skin cancer.
In August, the 57-year-old publicly disclosed his cancer diagnosis and earlier this month he shared a positive update.
He revealed he was celebrating getting the all-clear following treatment.
Last week, he shared that he’d faced a sleepless night over an email he had received about the cancer that was removed from his leg.
He said: “I didn’t sleep, hardly at all last night … two or three hours. A good night, I’ll get six, four or five and because I wake up every 90 minutes for my circadian rhythm, and I surrender to that now, actually I look forward to going back to sleep three times a night, because that’s where I live.
“But I never thought for a second you could lose a night’s sleep because of an email like this.”
He showed co-presenters Vassos Alexander and Rachel Horne the email he had received from the consultant plastic surgeon and Alexander read it live on air.
Reading the email, Alexander said: “I have forwarded the pathology report. It is excellent news.
“There is no residual disease. You have the all-clear.”
The Chris Evans Breakfast Show airs on weekdays from 6.30am on Virgin Radio.
