Billy hit with huge loss after wedding to Paul in Corrie
Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) is in for an upsetting few weeks after getting married to Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) in Coronation Street.
The beloved characters tied the knot during a ceremony at the Bistro, but Paul then threw a huge surprise on Billy afterwards about getting married in a church.
Billy and Paul had to have their wedding in the Bistro due to it not legally being possible for same-sex couples to marry in a Church of England.
Revealing his secret, Paul confirmed that Billy’s vicar friend from the South had agreed to marry them in a church on the sly. They made their way over and took part in another ceremony, with Billy tearful over his dream finally becoming a reality.

The emotional day came to a close with Billy and Paul happier than ever, but they remained unaware a polaroid picture had been dropped on the floor in the church.
The image clearly showed Billy and Paul getting married and tomorrow night, Billy faces the upsetting and unfair consequences.
Looking through the polaroids, Billy realises the one of them exchanging rings is missing.
The mystery is solved when the Bishop turns up with the picture and says that although Billy has broken the rules, he’s willing to turn a blind eye because of the circumstances.
The Bishop returns later to tell Billy and Paul that the church warden has posted on social media asking for the congregation’s opinion. The couple then sit down to read the comments and are horrified to see so much homophobic abuse.
Billy then gives a radio interview and talks passionately about his faith, how he’s sorry if he’s upset some members of the Church, but won’t ever be sorry for marrying the man he loves.
Back at home, it appears the interview wasn’t enough as Billy takes a call from the Bishop and confirms to Paul that he’s been suspended by the Church indefinitely.
But what will he do next?
