All the signs that Married At First Sights Ella and JJ would become a couple

After knowing each other for a mere matter of days, Married at First Sight stars Ella Morgan and JJ Slater stunned viewers at home, when the news emerged that they were going to kiss behind the backs of their spouses and re-enter the experiment as a brand new couple in the wake of the cheating scandal.

As regular viewers will already know, Ella’s husband Nathanial Valentino revealed at the start of the experiment that he had left during filming, but in a surprising moment it was soon revealed that his departure was actually because Ella and JJ were unfaithful in an explosive twist to the original couple's rocky tale.

Nathanial and Ella got off to a rocky start on the show after Nathanial struggled with Ella’s lack of emotional intimacy, while she in turn had issues with the lack of physical affection she was shown, leading the pair to be largely branded as a “friendship couple” by their fellow participants.

Meanwhile, JJ and his bride Bianca, were on uncertain ground from the very beginning, when JJ refused to engage either physically or emotionally with her, after admitting he wasn’t attracted to her at all on day one – as she was “nothing like” his usual type.

While many predicted a break-up was on the cards, the surprise re-coupling has taken many fans of the show by surprise, but were there any clues before the shocking romantic reshuffle?

Bianca and JJ’s disastrous first commitment ceremony

In their first commitment ceremony of the experiment, Bianca and JJ were quizzed about their first impressions of each other by the MAFS experts, with JJ admitting from the very beginning that his bride wasn’t his usual type.

“My normal type is…very different to Bianca,” began JJ. “ It’s girls that have had a lot of work done – and they kind of all look the same.”

However he then continued: “In this experiment I wanted something deeper, more emotional – so not my usual type. And Bianca’s a beautiful girl so I was really, really happy.”

But despite his comments, it appeared he was anything but, as he continued to display a clear disregard for Bianca in his body language, while arguing he wanted to take things “very slowly” so as not to rush into something insincere.

This was particularly hard for Bianca to process, as he had shown her no intimacy whatsoever since the wedding day, when their one and only kiss had been shared.

In fact, the experts themselves noticed the couple had been noticeably “flat” when entering together for the first time, giving them a clear indication that things weren’t going well for the couple.

Ella and JJ’s first meeting

By contrast, at the third dinner party of the series, when JJ and Bianca first arrived to meet the other couples. Ella and JJ appeared to have a far more energetic chemistry between them, with both stars laughing and smiling as they got to know each other.

In one notable moment in particular, Ella asked JJ about his teeth, as she quizzed: “Are they Turkey teeth?”

Prompting a sheepish but smiling JJ to reply: “Yeah they are. They’re fake.”

Ella than cheekily responded: “Most of me is too, don’t worry!”

Mere moments later, Ella and her husband Nathanial were seated opposite Bianca and JJ at the dinner table, with Ella and JJ continuing to enjoy a vibrant conversation together, even when Bianca awkwardly sought guidance from him about where they stood in their marriage at that moment in time.

Ella’s expression during JJ and Bianca’s commitment ceremony

Despite having gotten off to a rocky start, JJ and Bianca made the joint decision to continue with the experiment after a tense heart to heart during the commitment ceremony.

Agreeing that they still had some glimmer of potential, the couple decided to try and stick it out for another week in order to give their non-starter of a romance a fighting chance to blossom.

Interestingly, when the final decision was being made, the camera cut to Ella and Nathanial, with Ella looking noticeably uncomfortable about the entire situation.

Could this have been a glimpse of the green-eyed monster?
