Man City to appoint Pep Guardiola’s old manager Juanma Lillo as his No2 to replace Mikel Arteta – The Sun

MANCHESTER CITY are set to appoint Pep Guardiola's old boss Juanma Lillo as their assistant manager.

Guardiola was briefly managed by the Spanish maestro during his six-month stint at Mexican outfit Dorados Sinaloa at the twilight of his career in 2006.

City did not replace Mikel Arteta when he left for the top job at the Emirates last December, but according to Marca and AS the club have eyed Lillo as replacement.

He recently parted ways Chinese Super League side Qingdao Huanghai – where he had Yaya Toure in his squad – but he left during the lay off caused by coronavirus.

The 54-year-old has been a coach for 35 years, working with Sevilla, Chile, Real Sociedad, Almeria and Atletico Nacional where he has often had limited success.

The Spaniard has also held managerial jobs in Colombia, Panama, Mexico and Japan, where he coached Andres Iniesta, David Villa and Lukas Podolski at Vissel Kobe.

Guardiola has previously described Lillo as a "maestro" and regards him as one of the biggest influences on his career.

The City chief pinpoints his short-time in Mexico for spurring him onto a glittering coaching career with Barcelona.

The pair share a long-standing admiration for their hero Johan Cruyff who has influenced both their managerial styles and Guardiola views his former boss as a tactical idol.

In an interview in 2012 with Fifa, Lillo emotionally admitted: "Guardiola is like a son to me,

"He told me that he liked how my team played a lot and wanted to stay in touch. What began as a professional relationship developed into something much more."

Ironically his first game in the dug-out could be against Pep’s old assistant Arteta.

Liverpool legend Xabi Alonso had been touted for the No2 job at the Etihad in April.

The Spaniard visited City's training ground in 2018 to learn about the club's coaching methods and the Etihad boss backed him to become a top manager following his retirement.

Rodolfo Borrell, who is already part of City's coaching staff, has been acting as interim assistant coach and was also tipped for the job, but it seems the club would prefer to look for an external appointment.

Other possible options included club legend David Silva and Iniesta, but both are still playing so are unlikely to be swayed into the dug-out just yet.

Greece could drop strict quarantine if Brits fly from ‘low-risk' UK airports

GREECE may drop some of their strict coronavirus measures such as quarantines if Brits fly from certain airports in the UK.

It follows the announcement from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) of the highest risk airports across Europe, which included nearly all of the UK's.

⚠️ Read our coronavirus live blog for the latest news & updates

The airports not included on the list include Belfast, Bristol, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, London Southend, Southampton and Cardiff, which are all deemed to be 'safe'.

Those travelling from the low-risk airports may be able to avoid it and would only be subject to random testing.

Tourism minister Harry Theoharis told The Telegraph: "There are already UK airports from which, after June 15, visitors may come to Greece without going through quarantine."

Brits flying from "high risk" airports, which include London Heathrow and London Gatwick, would face the strict quarantine rules in Greece.

There are currently no direct flights from the 'safe' airports and Greece – however the EASA regulations are to be regularly updated.

There are, however, indirect flights – Edinburgh to Athens with Wizz Air, stopping at Budapest or Zurich, two other safe airports.

More flights are also expected to operate from July onwards as easyJet, Ryanair and British Airways begin a limited schedule of flights to Europe.

Greece is opening the country to tourists from June 15, which includes UK holidaymakers.

Yet Mr Theoharis added yesterday that the current restrictions on travellers from most UK airports means it would be difficult for the majority of holidaymakers from Britain wanting to take a trip to the European country.

Travellers will be forced to stay in a designated hotel for a few days while awaiting the result.

Negative tests will result in a seven day self-isolation, while a positive test results in a 14-day quarantine which is supervised.

Mr Theoharis told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "For the rest of the airports, testing is mandatory and for a certain amount of days you wait for the test results."

The UK is also enforcing a 14-day quarantine from June 8 on anyone entering the country, for at least three weeks.

The UK government also still advises against all non-essential travel – which isn't expected to be lifted any time soon.

Greece hotels and luxury resorts are slashing their prices ahead of Brits returning this year to encourage holidaymakers to visit.

Some are selling holidays for half the usual cost this time of year.

Tia Mowry Reveals How Growing Up In Biracial Family Helped Her See ‘Privilege’ Very ‘Clearly’

Tia Mowry talked about growing up in a biracial family & the struggles her mother had to endure due to the color of her skin in a revealing new post.

Tia Mowry, 41, is one of the many celebrities who has shared personal stories about racial injustice after the passing of George Floyd. The celebrated actress shared a lengthy Instagram post on Thursday, June 4, that spoke about what her mother Darlene Mowry had to deal with because she is black compared to her father Timothy Mowry, who is white. “It was very clear to me seeing the #privilege that my dad had as opposed to my #mother,” she began.

She then brought up situations that happened while she and her twin sister Tamera Mowry-Housely, 41, were shining stars on their popular 90’s sitcom. “Some examples, during our #sistersister days when traveling for work we would often fly first class. There were several times my mother was asked if she was in the right seat,” she revealed. “Another incident that stood out for me was when we were buying our first home as a family. My mother walked in the house model with us asking for a brochure. A person had said the houses were sold out. My dad walked in and it was a different story.”

Tia transitioned back into the current events that have taken place in the wake of George’s passing. “This year has been a tough year,” she admitted. “Several tears have been shed. However, a friend told me these tears will not be wasted. The #love and #support around the world has kept me going. A #change is gonna come.”

Celebs like Tia have not only used their words but have taken action in many different ways. Star Wars actor John Boyega, 28, broke down in tears while giving an emotional speech about racial equality during a rally in London on Wednesday, June 3.

John was far from the only star who showed their support at a number of rallies that have taken place worldwide in recent days. Others who have marched include Ariana Grande, Halsey, Steph & Ayesha Curry and Kanye West just to name a few.

Game of Thrones and Friends toppled by Looney Tunes as most popular show on HBO just one week after launch – The Sun

GAME of Thrones has been knocked off its perch as HBO’s most-watched show – by cartoons, no less.

Despite being arguably the most talked-about TV series of the past decade, the popular fantasy series was not the most streamed programme on WarnerMedia’s new streaming service in its first week.

Instead the most-watched show on HBO Max after week one was Looney Toons Cartoons – a modern reboot of the iconic Bugs Bunny-starring animated shorts.

The series drew 16.5 times the demand of the average TV show, according to audience research firm Parrot Analytics.

It found Looney Toons Cartoons even exceeded Apple TV+’s big budget sci-fi original See – the most in-demand show on the platform in its first four days – and was almost five times more in demand than Quibi’s most popular show Chrissy’s Court.

Perhaps surprisingly, Game of Thrones did not even feature in the top five most-watched programmes on the platform.

The second most-watched show initially was The Not-Too-Late Show With Elmo.

The HBO Max original is a send-up of US television’s late-night chat shows, starring the much-loved Sesame Street character.

But this was soon passed by Anna Kendrick’s rom-com Love Life, which has gone on to be the second most in-demand HBO Max programme, with nine times as many viewers as an average show.

However, Looney Tunes pales in comparison to the launch of Disney+ and it’s hit sci-fi western The Mandalorian, which in its first four days drew a staggering 46.1 times the demand of an average show.

But while audiences seem to be enjoying HBO Max’s family-friendly content, industry reaction has generally been less positive.

Analysts at US firm MoffettNathanson described the WarnerMedia channel as “chaotic” with a “mess” of brands.

Rahul Patel, an analyst at Ampere, added: “The branding is certainly less clear-cut than in the case of Disney, where its individual production assets have historically been more closely aligned to the studio in branding terms.

“This manifests in two main ways – clarifying the breadth of content on the service, and clarifying the differentiation from historic VOD services run by Warner – and has resulted in Warner making recent efforts to clarify the distinction between HBO Go, HBO Now, and HBO Max.”

Man is arrested over death of pregnant elephant

Man is arrested over death of pregnant elephant that was killed by feeding it a pineapple filled with firecrackers

  • Elephant walked into village near Silent Valley National Park, Palakkad, last week
  • She ate food – thought to be pineapple – intentionally stuffed with the explosives
  • It is technique used by locals to keep wild animals away from their crops in India
  • Rubber tapper in 40s was arrested for handling explosives and assisting others

A man has been arrested over the death of a pregnant elephant who was killed after eating food laced with firecrackers in India.

The elephant wandered into a village near Silent Valley National Park, Palakkad, last week.

There she unwittingly ate food – thought to be pineapple – intentionally stuffed with the explosives, a technique used by locals to keep wild animals away from their crops.

The device exploded in her mouth and she was left in excruciating pain for days before dying standing up in a river on May 27.

Today a rubber tapper in his 40s was arrested for handling explosives and assisting others, Chief Wildlife Warden Surendra Kumar said.

Images of the elephant standing in the Velliyar River with her trunk and wounded mouth submerged under the surface prompted international outcry

It comes after three suspects were identified yesterday.

Palakkad district police chief G Siva Vikram told New Delhi Television: ‘The arrested man is a rubber tapper. A search is on for others.’

Images of the elephant standing in the Velliyar River with her trunk and wounded mouth submerged under the surface prompted international outcry.

A postmortem on the elephant showed that she was around 15 years old but days of starvation likely left her looking significantly smaller.

A postmortem on the elephant (pictured in the river) showed that she was around 15 years old but days of starvation likely left her looking significantly smaller

The creature ate the fire cracker-laced food and it exploded in her mouth causing ‘severe traumatic injury’.

She was unable to eat or drink for days and wandered – while incredibly weak – into a river, likely to stop flies and bugs from entering the cuts.

Her official cause of death was respiratory failure after inhaling water.

While local officials initially said the elephant ate pineapple, the post mortem was unable to confirm this.

Forest Officer of Mannarkkad, Aashique Ali U told the TV station: ‘We right now don’t know what the crackers were mixed with.

‘Locally crackers in this area are mixed with fruits or animal fat. But we haven’t been able to find anything conclusively.’

A ten-member Special Investigation Team will begin tracking the elephant’s movements on Friday.

Tearful Ben Shephard struggles to speak as he says 'where there is life there is hope' for Kate Garraway's husband Derek

GOOD Morning Britain star Ben Shephard fought back tears today as he spoke about Kate Garraway's sick husband Derek Draper.

Ben, 45, became emotional after his co-star and close friend Kate had opened up on television for the first time about Derek's battle with coronavirus.

⚠️ Read our coronavirus live blog for the latest news & updates

Reflecting on the heartbreaking interview, in which Kate admitted that Derek may never recover, Ben was forced to pause and compose himself.

As his eyes filled with tears, Ben told GMB viewers: "We're sending so much love and prayers to Derek.

"Where there's life there's hope and no matter how bleak it might be, or how bad it is, Derek is still there and we all, absolutely…"

The GMB presenter was then forced to break off and take a deep breath, before continuing.

He then send prayers to Kate and Derek and their two children, Darcey, 14, and Billy, 10.

"…where there is life there is hope and we will keep our fingers crossed and prayers for Derek and Darcey and Bill and for Kate," Ben concluded.

Ben's co-host, Ranvir Singh, then told viewers they would be cutting to a commercial break.

The emotional moment came an hour after Kate had appeared on Good Morning Britain via video link from her north London home.

It was the first time she had spoken in depth about Derek's battle with Covid-19, which began at the end of March.

During the heartbreaking interview, Kate recalled the last words she said to Derek before he was put in an induced coma on April 5. He has since come out of the coma but is still very sick.

The 53-year-old star said: "He couldn't really speak to me because of the mask, but he was begging me, 'I feel like I'm suffocating, please let them put me in a coma', because there was a debate about that.

"But I said 'no we've got to wait' because if his lungs can handle it that's better. Then on the Sunday morning they rang me up and said we're going to be him in a coma, and he just said to me, 'I love you, I have to leave you', and I said 'It's only for three or four days and you're going to fine this is good and good'.

He said to me, 'You have saved my life, I don't just mean now I mean marrying me and the children,'  and I said I love you I love you and then he was gone and that was it."

Kate confirmed that Derek, 52, is now free from Covid-19 but admitted the damage it has caused to his body is significant.

She added: "It's wreaked extraordinary damage on his body and we don't know if he can recover from that."

Cate Blanchett casually reveals she injured her head with a chainsaw

When it comes to tools that you really wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of, chainsaw is pretty much at the top of the list.

So we’re baffled by Cate Blanchett’s nonchalant approach to having an actual chainsaw accident in her home.

The Oscar winner was speaking to former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard on her podcast, A Podcast of One’s Own, when she casually revealed she’d apparently made an impromptu reboot of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

The 51-year-old had been using the power tool in her mansion in East Sussex when the accident occurred.

The Carol star said: ‘I’m fine. I had a bit of a chainsaw accident yesterday, which sounds very, very exciting, but it wasn’t. Apart from the little nick to the head, I’m fine.’

Gillard replied: ‘Be very careful with that chainsaw. You’ve got a very famous head, I don’t think people would like to see any nicks taken out of it.’

We second that.

Aside from having a run-in with a chainsaw, Cate’s time in lockdown with husband Andrew Upton and their children Dashiell, 18, Roman, 16, Ignatius, 12, and five-year-old Edith has been rather subdued.

Cate had decided to take a year off to assist Dashiell through his A-levels – but the pandemic made that plan rather redundant.

The Aussie star said: ‘I took the year off ostensibly to be with him and support him through exam period

‘And then all of this exam stuff evaporated [because of school closures] and I’m left with an 18-year-old who doesn’t really want to have anything to do with me!

‘So it’s a little bit discombobulating, but it’s a high-class problem, we’re all well.’

Cate has also, however, had to home-school her youngest child Edith, and said: ‘I have a huge respect for the teaching profession. I always have.’

The family previously lived in Hunters Hill, Sydney, before relocating to the UK IN 2016.

They reside in a £3.4 million manor called Highwell House near Crowborough.

While Blanchett is currently taking some time off, she will next be seen in Nightmare Alley, the production of which was halted in March due to coronavirus.

The thriller, based on the book of the same name by William Lindsay Gresham, also stars Bradley Cooper, Willem Dafoe, Toni Collette and Rooney Mara.

Outlander: Who is dating who? The real-life relationships

We will use your email address only for sending you newsletters. Please see our Privacy Notice for details of your data protection rights.

The central romance between Claire Fraser (played by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) is a big part of Starz series Outlander. Outlander is adapted from the novels of Diana Gabaldon and follows the couple’s love through time and space. However, many viewers have been wondering about the real-life romance of the stars.

Caitriona Balfe

Caitriona Balfe is married to music producer Tony McGill with the pair tying the knot back in 2019.

They reportedly got married in August last year at St. Mary’s Church in Bruton, Somerset.

Balfe and McGill got engaged in 2018 with the actress telling People at the time: “It happened over the break. I’m very happy.”

She also told The Independent about her romance: “He’s a very shy person and he doesn’t like much talking about him.”

The star added: “I met him through one of my best friends, which I think is the best kind of introduction you can get.”

The couple has been very private about their relationship but are thought to have been together for a number of years before tying the knot.

According to social media, the pair have known each other for an estimated 10 years.

He was previously linked to actress MacKenzie Mauzy and had roles in Law & Order: SVU and CSI.

Many fans have hoped Heughan and Balfe’s onscreen romance will become a case of life imitating art but the two are just good friends.

Balfe previously told E! in 2016: “We’ve always said from the get-go that we’re incredibly great friends.

“We’re not together, sorry to break people’s hearts! But they like to try and, I don’t know, maybe replicate the Claire and Jamie story.

“I think it would be difficult for us to work together and be together.”

Richard Rankin

There’s not much information about who Richard Rankin – better known as Roger MacKenzie – is dating.

However, he did share some titbits about filming kissing scenes with his co-star Sophie Skelton – who plays Brianna Fraser.

Rankin told Vanity Fair in 2017: “I find that endlessly hilarious. The best thing to do before a kissing scene is to eat lobster or as much fish as you can cram in your face.

“That’s more interesting than a straight down the line kiss. Everyone’s doing normal kisses.

“The normal kiss is done, it’s so uninspiring. But if you’ve got a lobster tail hanging out the side of your mouth it’s much better.”

'Insecure' Season 4: Fans Are Convinced Condola Hayes Might Be Pregnant

Issa Dee and Condola Hayes seemed like they were going to become great friends in Insecure Season 4 as they planned a block party together. Although the event turned out to be a success, their friendship did not as Condola ghosted Issa after she and Lawrence broke up. However, in Episode 8, Condola contacted Lawrence several times while he was on a date with Issa, leading many fans to believe she might be pregnant.

Condola Hayes on ‘Insecure’

At the end of Season 3, Issa (Issa Rae) met Condola (Christina Elmore) at Tiffany DuBois’ (Amanda Seales) baby shower. They later ran into each other while Issa celebrated her birthday, and the two struck up a conversation about her block party idea.

Condola agreed to help, and they worked closely together at the beginning of Season 4 to pull it off. The ladies were becoming good friends, but Condola began dating Issa’s ex of five years, Lawrence (Jay Ellis). Even so, they continued planning the party together until Lawrence and Condola broke up only a couple of weeks before the scheduled event.

RELATED: ‘Insecure’ Fans Think Condola Is Cheating on Lawrence

After the breakup, Condola ghosted Issa even though she stayed in contact with the vendors and showed up at the block party. The two haven’t spoken to each other since the event.

Condola Hayes wanted to meet with Lawrence Walker

In Season 4 Episode 8, Lawrence and Issa reunited and had an open conversation about their relationship. At Friendsgiving, Condola asked Lawrence if he had thought about what had happened if he had stayed with Issa after she cheated.

He apparently didn’t because he reached out to Issa, wondering if he gave up too easily. After their honest conversation, Issa went to the bathroom before continuing with their night.

RELATED: ‘Insecure’ Season 4 Episode 8 Soundtrack — All the Music Featured in ‘Lowkey Happy’

When she left, Lawrence checked his phone and saw Condola wanted to meet that night instead of on Tuesday as they previously planned. He told her it could be a possibility and that he would keep her posted, and she called an hour later.

Lawrence didn’t answer the call as he and Issa were at Art Walk but phoned his ex when Issa went to the bathroom in his apartment. He told her they should be able to meet, but he ended up spending the night with Issa instead.

Fans think Condola Hayes might be pregnant

Many viewers believe Condola could be pregnant, which is why she continually asked to meet that night. Some think Condola might have just wanted to rekindle something with Lawrence or acted like a “thirsty female” by wanting to contact him when he “left her hanging.”

However, others argue she was “way too persistent.” Additionally, Condola recently came out of a marriage and didn’t seem to want to settle down with a family too fast, so she wouldn’t be as “desperate” to get back with Lawrence.

Fans also think Condola being pregnant would ruin Lawrence and Issa getting back together unless the writers explore her deciding not to keep the baby.

RELATED: Who Is The ‘Insecure’ Star Who Plays Condola?

If Condola chose not to go forward with the pregnancy, as she’s already expressed her desire not to have kids, it would be a new topic for the show and could also explain why she wanted to meet with Lawrence a couple of days earlier than scheduled.

While many viewers hope Condola isn’t pregnant because they think it’s “too predictable” or an “overdone storyline,” it’s hard to imagine any other reason why she wanted to meet with Lawrence that night so badly.

Insecure airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EST on HBO.
