Coffee is one of the most popular drinks in Britain, it is a beverage which forms a key part of thousands of morning routines as people prepare for the day ahead.

What’s more, in some studies experts have found that the drink could have some health benefits too.

According to the people behind the brainteaser, around 80 percent of people find the correct coffee in under 30 seconds.

So too could coffee. According to recent research published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, compounds found in a shot of espresso could prevent the development of Alzheimer’s, the most common form of dementia.

The study showed just a single shot could inhibit the process behind the onset of the incurable and degenerative condition.

Biologist from the University of Verona, Italy, Mariapina D’Onofrio, explained: “Espresso coffee is among the best-known beverages worldwide, and drinking espresso has become a habit in many countries due to its pleasant taste.

“Recent studies show that when consumed in moderation, this drink could have beneficial effects on human health thanks to its biological properties.

“In particular, numerous studies report that moderate and, sometimes, even high coffee consumption exerts a neuroprotective effect against two of the most common neurodegenerative diseases – Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.”
