Worlds number one cocktail gets festive makeover with mouth-watering twist

Christmas is edging closer which means swathes of friends and family will soon be descending on your household around the festive period.

For some, hosting is an absolute nightmare but must be done. There's nothing worse than having to entertain the snobby in-law's or your best mate and their obnoxious partner.

But, to make sure it will all run smoothly as possible it's best to be prepared. So, that means writing a shopping list and checking it twice.

However, feeling like you want to spice up your hosting this Xmas? Well, the best way to do that is by putting away the Monopoly and impressing with an array of food and drink.

Feel like you want to serve something else than the usual Buck's Fizz and creamy liquors? The team at CAMPARI mastered a special Negroni recipe with a very Christmassy twist that will certainly ease any family gathering awkwardness. Instead of the cosy mulled wine, the experts at CAMPARI have created the 'Hot Mulled Negroni'.

With the Negroni being the 'world’s number one cocktail' (according to the Bespoke Cocktails Study), the mulled version will hopefully be a welcome addition among guests this Xmas.

So what do you need for the festive drink?

Ingredients

• 20ml CAMPARI

• 50ml Red wine

• 25ml Vermouth Rosso

• 15ml Gin

• Cinnamon

• Nutmeg

• Orange rind

• Brown sugar

• Orange peel

The boozy hot beverage is pretty easy to rustle up once you've gathered all of the ingredients. There's no need for a fancy cocktail shaker nor what feels like a bucket full of ice. All you need to do is put all the alcohol and extra bits in a pot or soup kettle to warm it up.

Once it's at the temperature you fancy, simply pour in a mug – or a latte glass if you're really trying to push the boat out and impress. And, to top it off, you can garnish with an orange peel.

That's bound to make your home a popular one at Christmas!

The Negroni has had the spotlight on its bitter self in 2023 partly due to House of the Dragon’s Emma D'arcy and their viral interview on the Negroni Sbagliato. So, the Mulled Negroni is certainly bang on trend.

The experts at CAMPARI said: "Drinks Support research cocktail trends found top end cocktail bars & mainstream bars segmentations are looking into how to revamp classic cocktails such as the Negroni, thanks to change in consumers palates which are now braver in challenging flavours like bitterness."
