The people have spoken — this is how to make a perfect fish finger sandwich
Get that oven pre-heated babes, because the perfect way to make a fish finger sandwich has been found.
A poll of 2,000 adults who all eat fish finger sandwiches has found that the ideal sarnie is made with four fish fingers, ‘real’ butter, two slices of white bread and ketchup.
According to close to half (48%) of those polled, the ideal sarnie must also be cut sideways, so there are complete fish fingers in each slice.
However, this was contested by the 30% who like to cut their sarnie lengthways, and the 9% who prefer it cut into two triangles.
A number of respondents also decreed that the optimum fish finger sarnie is also made with lettuce (21%), cheese (15%) and tomato (12%).
The study, which was commissioned by Birds Eye, The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), and Iceland Foods, found that 76% would choose a fish finger sandwich made from sustainably sourced cod.
A spokesperson for Iceland said: ‘We know our fish fingers are not only great value, but they taste good too – making them a quick and easy meal that is guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser for families.
‘With one-third of the world’s fish stocks overfished, it is more important than ever for shoppers to choose seafood from sustainable sources.’
More than half (55%) of those who took part in the OnePoll.com study said that, even though they find the whole thing confusing, they care about the impact their food choices have on the environment.
However, 39% feel like they just can’t afford to make the necessary changes, so it’s a good thing nine in 10 agreed that the fish finger sandwich is a quick, easy and affordable meal that’s tasty too.
