My husband is closer in age to my daughter than me – our sex life is amazing
When Stephanie O’Shea called a plumber to fix a burst pipe in her home, she didn’t expect to meet the love of her life, who is over 13 years younger than her.
Now, despite her beau, Charlie, 29, only being eight years older than her daughter, Zoe, 21, the two claim to be “inseparable” – especially due to their “raunchy” sex life.
“I would say we are probably much more sexually active than many other long-term couples, it’s the best I’ve ever had,” the hospital financier said. “We still flirt and swat at each other’s bottoms whenever we walk through the room. We’ve never lost the spark.”
While they’re now completely “loved up” after welcoming a baby together, Lucas, aged seven, along with tying the knot in March 2019 – they’ve had their fair share of ups and downs.
Stephanie, who initially doubted their compatibility, claims that her daughter makes fun of their relationship – dubbing the mum-of-two a “cougar.”

She said: “She teased us a lot with cougar jokes [at first], but she’s been pretty mellow since. My daughter’s comments are all in good fun, so I don’t mind.
“They don’t always get along, but she respects my marriage. Charlie really went out of his way to try and get along with her.
“They are so opposite in personality and often are trying to irritate each other. Their age gap isn’t really weird for me because the level of maturity is different.
“A 21-year-old college girl and a 29-year business owner, who is a military veteran, is a very different level of maturity. I had already gone through one marriage for 16 years and had a teenage daughter when we first met, so it took a lot for me to get over that.
“He was also just getting out of a long-term relationship, so we were just trying to enjoy time without the drama. [Our age difference] bothered me so much, but didn’t get to him in the slightest.
“We had a conversation about it and we eventually decided that it doesn’t matter – we both enjoy each other’s company and that’s helped me move past it.”

Stephanie wasn’t looking at getting into a new relationship, especially so soon after her aforementioned divorce, but the pair couldn’t part ways.
She said: “We hit it off immediately and when he was done, he told me he didn’t find the reason for the water damage and it would happen again, so he gave me his personal phone number.
“Four months later, the water damage happened again, but I’d forgotten I had his number, so they sent someone else. He turned up afterward to collect payment and we sat on the porch talking for hours.
“We were already finishing each other’s sentences and a few days later, we went on our first date. I felt like I was talking to myself at his age, it was such a strong connection.”
Within one month, the couple made their relationship official, but then received a shock surprise when Stephanie had a positive pregnancy test.
The mum, who has a history of endometriosis, a condition where tissue grows outside the uterus, often causing intense pain, thought she’d never be able to have any more kids, so the news came as a “pleasant” shock.
Stephanie, from Virginia, said: “I was thrilled and it was a wonderful surprise. Charlie just could not get the smile off his face.
“It was a little shocking, not just because of the age, but also because he swore up and down that he didn’t want children. We had spoken about it, but neither of us expected for it to happen so quickly.”
Now, eight years later, the family couldn’t be happier and she claims their romance is “true love” – with their family and friends very supportive of their relationship.
She added: “People keep saying: ‘You look so happy’ which is lovely to hear. Most of our family didn’t know until we discovered that I was pregnant.
“Everyone has been really welcoming, including my former in-laws, who even came to our wedding and showered us with presents for the baby.
“I’m sure some people have negative opinions about us, but I do what I want when I want, and that doesn’t bother me.
“He’s still my best friend all these years later, and we’re together almost all day, every day – I still miss him when I leave the house.
“If I’m away, he’s messaging and calling to make sure I’m OK and I do the same for him. We are inseparable and I’m so glad the pipe burst.”
