Dermatologist Shereene Idriss took to TikTok to showcase the budget products that help her maintain her youthful skin without breaking the bank.
The expert began: “I’m nearly 40 years old and I’m a board-certified dermatologist and you do not need to spend a million dollars on an anti-aging skincare routine, get a really solid one for underneath $100.
“By the way, I’m not sponsored by any of these brands,” Shereene clarified.
She continued: “Let’s start with a cleaner in the morning. You can skip it and wash your face with water at night and go for a $9 Vanna cream cleanser, it is a basic, gentle cleanser without any access.

“Is it the best at removing makeup? Nope, so you can marry it to a micellar water, my preferred one is by Bioderma – the one with the pink cap for sensitive skin.
Moving on to exfoliation, the expert shared her preference for alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), such as glycolic acid, as they help with skin cell turnover and have anti-aging properties.
She said she incorporates this step into her nighttime routine, a few times a week and recommended the INKEY List’s glycolic acid option for just $9.
The expert continued by emphasising the importance of a good serum, which is a product that’s worth spending a bit more money on.
She said: “Vitamin C and retinol. Vitamin C is important, especially in the morning.

“Vanicream has one for sensitive skin and it is an Ester form of vitamin C, so it’s not going to be very irritating.
“A retinol that you can use at night. This is a beginner’s retinol,” she said showing the E.L.F. COSMETICS Skin Youth Boosting Advanced Night Retinoid Serum to the camera.
“It is one that is not too strong. Start low and slow, maybe two times a week at night and work your way up every week.
“Advanced users out there – and a pro term tip – you can use the retinol as an under-eye cream, but buffer it first by using Vaseline underneath your eyes, and then using a tiny bit of retinol on top.”
Finally, the dermatologist concluded: “For a moisturiser, you can get a 2-in-1 La Roche-Posay Toleriane, which doubles as a moisturiser and an SPF because it’s loaded with ceramides and you get SPF 30 protection.”
