EasyJet cancels flights from major UK airport to holiday hotspot popular with Brits | The Sun
EASYJET is cancelling flights from a major UK airport to a holiday hotspot popular with Brits.
The airline confirmed that it will stop running flights from Gatwick to Volos in Greece next summer.
The airport is on the Pelion peninsula, halfway up mainland Greece's Aegean coast between Athens and Thessaloniki.
Many Brits fly to the airport to get to Skiathos and Skopelos, the two gorgeous islands used to as filming locations for Mamma Mia.
EasyJet will not be cancelling any scheduled flights – but will stop running the service from next summer.
The airline will carry on flying to Athens, Thessaloniki and Skiathos itself.

A spokesman said: "Following a review of the route, we can confirm that flights between London Gatwick and Volos in Greece won’t be going on sale beyond this summer.
"We concentrate our efforts on maintaining and developing routes which prove most popular with customers, focusing on offering routes with the greatest demand.
"We continue to offer customers in in the UK 13 Greek destinations and provide more seats from the UK than any other airline to this popular Mediterranean region."
The Pelion region around Volos was devastated by flash floods earlier this month – killing 20 people and washing away whole towns.
