Darts ref Russ Bray puts disruptive fan in their place during Josh Rock match
Iconic darts referee Russ Bray delivered a brutal putdown to a heckling fan at the German Darts Championship.
Hildesheim is the latest stop on the PDC European Tour, with the second round matches taking place today (Saturday). In one tie, rising star Josh Rock took on former Lakeside world champion Stephen Bunting.
During the mouth-watching match-up, one fan decided they wanted to be the centre of attention by annoyingly whistling while both players threw. However, it didn’t take long for Bray to put the so-called fan in their place.

Just after a Rock visit in the third leg, with Bunting 2-0 up, Bray, in his distinctive gravelly voice, said: “Yeah, thanks mate, we all know you can whistle, just leave it.” The retort triggered laughter in the commentary box, although the players, who both looked focused, were unmoved.
The response was lauded by darts fans, who bemoaned the idiotic behaviour of the fan. One said: “Really sad this is what darts has become. Ref should be able to stop the game until the idiot is thrown out. Refs need more power. Security needs to be more vigilant. PDC needs to acknowledge the crowd problem, publicly condemn it and deal with it.”

Another simply said “unreal” with laughing face emojis. Bunting went on to win the match 6-2. Other players to make it through to the final day were former world champion Rob Cross, Damon Heta, and Ross Smith.
There were a couple of shocks with Dirk van Duijevbode being thrashed 6-0 by George Killington while former Premier League champion Jonny Clayton crashed out 6-5 to home player Nico Kurz. The likes of Michael van Gerwen, Peter Wright, Luke Humphries and Michael Smith enter the fray tonight.
