Coleen Nolans son Shanes life from Miss Great Britain split to name change

Shane Nolan and wife Maddie Wadhan split earlier this month after he allegedly cheated on her.

The 35 year old, who is son of television star Coleen Nolan and actor Shane Richie, had been with Maddie, 28, for six years and married to her for just a year.

After the news was revealed, Shane appeared to make light of the situation, taking to his Instagram to share a couple of cheeky posts.

One showed a canoeist battling rough waters, captioned: "Therapist: How's it going? Me: Just going with the flow! The flow."

Another post featured a child going down a slide on their back, with the caption: "Me trying to make it to the end of 2023." Amid the split news, we take a closer look at Shane Jr's life away from the spotlight.

Relationship and split with Maddie

Shane and Maddie tied the knot at Rushton Hall, Kettering, on July 10, 2022, after he proposed to her on Christmas 2020 during a game of charades.

They parted ways just over a year after they married due to Shane's alleged cheating. Opening up about Maddie and Shane's split, one insider claimed that his mum is "really upset".

Speaking to The Sun the source said: "It's sad the relationship has come to an abrupt end so soon after they tied the knot.

"Shane admitted he'd cheated. Maddie can't see any way back from the betrayal, so ended their marriage. Coleen is really upset as she adored Maddie and sees her as another daughter.

"She is disappointed to see history repeating itself. It's a case of like father, like son. Maddie is heartbroken. She is standing firm on her decision to move on with her life. She would never be walked over."

The insider claimed Shane and Maddie are now living apart, with Shane staying close to his family while Maddie has made a home for herself in Kent.

Shane's parents, Coleen and Shane Richie, split up back in 1999.

Speaking to The Daily Star in 2012, Coleen said: "I'm in a much happier place now than when I was married to Shane I don't have to worry about what he gets up to any more."

In 2003, Shane told The Guardian there was 'no excuse' for his bad behaviour, especially when he was hosting a wedding show, Love Me Do, which celebrated faithful love.

"What I did to Coleen was unforgivable and I could never apologise enough," he said. "And I was pulling the wool over the public's eyes, so what do you think was going to happen?"

Name change

In 2020, it was reported by the Mirror that Shane was considering changing his surname back to Richie to show he was backing his dad while he was on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

He'd changed his name to Nolan in the past to support his mum when she went on Celebrity Big Brother and was later crowned the winner.

His mum was touched by the gesture and sobbed when she was told the news while still in the house.

An insider told the Sun of his plan to revert back to Richie in 2020: "Shane Jnr and Jake are massively supportive of their dad and can't wait to see him on TV again.

"When Coleen was in Celebrity Big Brother he stopped using Richie and is now known as Shane Nolan, he did this to support her and to show her how much he cared and respected her.

"It was really sweet and meant so much. After his mates found out his dad Shane was heading to Wales for I’m A Celeb they joked about whether he would change it back to Richie and he’d said he would think about it."

Career and life

Shane was born on December 2, 1988, and has a brother called Jake. He is a singer who toured as a support act for the Nolans in 2009.

The star appeared as Roddy O'Neill in the UK National Theatre tour of Boogie Nights in the 2010s and received critical acclaim.

His theatre work continued five years later when he joined David Hasselhoff in the nationwide musical tour of Last Night A DJ Saved My Life.

He now regularly performs as a singer in the Nolan Band, which covers all genres and eras of music.
