Strictlys Katya Jones details disappointing exit after tearful show farewell
Katya Jones’ eyes filled with tears as she reminisced over her incredible run on Strictly Come Dancing 2023 via Instagram. The 34-year-old ballroom pro then confessed how “gutted” she was that this year’s stint on “the best show on earth” had come to such an abrupt end.
Casualty star Nigel Harman, 50, had to pull out of the competition just hours before last Saturday night’s show, when an injury he’d sustained to his ribs made it impossible for him to continue. Taking to Instagram to share some lively rehearsal footage with her 240,000 followers, Katya lamented: “I am so gutted you won’t get to see this number.
“Nigel truly shone and altogether it was a real treat. I can’t stop dancing it and singing the song in my head!” The pair recently completed their last ever It Takes Two show, and Katya shared backstage footage of a beaming Nigel alongside her.
He told the camera that his motivation for dancing had been less about “marks, scores and reviews” and more about entertaining the audience. “The fact that you kept us in and loved us is really the thing I’m going to cherish the most!” he exclaimed.
Meanwhile, Katya agreed: “The only reason we do it is we want to bring some sunshine to Saturday nights!” She added in an emotional recording after the show that while she’d suffered a “disappointing exit”, the setback had taught her “lessons” and made the dancing duo “better and stronger” in the end.

“Katya blinked back the tears as she gave a shout out to the “phenomenal creativity” of the production team, suggesting Strictly is “the best show on Earth”.
“It’s been a phenomenal year. I have thoroughly enjoyed it every single week,” she continued.
“I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved, but it’s all down to so much effort on all fronts.”
Katya added that the limited time she’d had to talk on the BBC show hadn’t allowed her to fully express herself.

“I just feel the need to express some more appreciation because there’s no time for that on live television!” she told the nation.
Despite Nigel’s injury meaning he can no longer be part of the competition, that won’t stop him making an eagerly awaited appearance in the grand final.
The star has already explained how his painful accident came about, revealing to Strictly host Claudia Winkleman: “I was leaping off a rostrum and I was about to be caught by some very handsome men, and as I flew I was Peter Pan, and as I landed, I was in A&E!
“I’ve done something to my rib basically, and it’s quite painful. I’m a little bit high on painkillers as well, but I’m [still] having a lovely time.”
“Meanwhile, Katya has clarified who she’s now rooting for to win, clenching her wrist triumphantly as she gave a shoutout to Dianne Buswell – now the “only female pro” who’s still standing, with partner Bobby Brazier.
