Kourtney Kardashians urgent fetal surgery explained following hospitalization
Kourtney Kardashian has taken to Instagram recently to confirm her hospital stay in a very emotional statement, as she shared exactly what happened.
The Kardashians star confirmed she was the reason her husband Travis Barker travelled back from the UK, and she had to have “urgent fetal surgery”.
According to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, fetal surgery is a “highly complex surgical intervention to repair birth defects in the womb that requires the most expert care for both mother and unborn baby”.
There are plenty of different reasons for needing fetal surgery, including spina bifida, Amniotic band syndrome, Bronchopulmonary sequestration of the lung, and Intrauterine transfusion (IUT) to name a few.
It is not known exactly why Kourtney needed urgent fetal surgery but she is now at home recovering with her unborn son.

Blink-182 released a statement last Friday announcing they needed to cancel their upcoming Glasgow, Belfast, and Dublin gigs as drummer Travis had to travel home for an “urgent family matter”.
Travis then posted worrying updates on Instagram including pictures of a Prayer Room door, as well as a picture of the stained glass window in the room.
He also shared a snap of a message on the wall reading: “Together we pray.”
This left many to speculate about Kourtney’s health as she is heavily pregnant with her fourth child.

Kourtney has now shared a black-and-white snap of her and Travis’ hands, along with a statement about what has happened over the last week.
It reads in full: “I will be forever grateful to my incredible doctors for saving our baby’s life.
“I am eternally grateful to my husband who rushed to my side from tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterward, my rock. And to my mom, thank you for holding my hand through this.
“As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I wasn’t prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery.
“I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of fear.
“I have a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant.
“Praise be to God. Walking out of the hospital with my baby boy in my tummy and safe was the truest blessing.”
Kourtney, who shares three children with ex Scott Disick, announced her pregnancy to the world at a Blink-182 concert earlier this year.
Midway through the gig, Kourtney held up a handmade sign reading: “Travis I’m pregnant.”
This sweet gesture reflects his band Blink-182’s 1999 music video for All the Small Things.
