Heather Mills blames corporate greed for her vegan food companys collapse
Heather Mills claims veganism ‘healed’ her after two weeks
Sir Paul McCartney’s ex-wife Heather Mills’ has confirmed the collapse of her meat-free food company of 30 years, VBites. The vegan firm is set to go into administration with 112 jobs at risk.
A “devastated” Heather blamed the closure firmly at the hands of “corporate greed” and “misinformation” in an announcement on social media and her website.
She wrote: “It’s with regret that VBites Foods, a company very dear to my heart, is entering into administration. I offered every solution I feasibly could to keep it going.
“Sadly VBites ultimately fell victim to the galvanised misinformation currently being undertaken by the meat and dairy industries as well as the corporate greed in our market.”
Heather, who also paid tribute to workers at the firm who had put “blood, sweat and tears” into the company, also blamed inflation and Brexit for the business’ demise.

“Brexit has been an utter disaster for the supply and maintenance of the sector and the government doubtless has a lot to answer for,” she continued.
The animal-rights activist and vegan launched VBites in 1993 and it soon became one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and wholesalers of plant-based meat and cheese.
Last month she recalled that when she first became a vegan 30 years ago, she felt she was regarded as “the biggest weirdo on the planet”.
However, she stated that the practice is becoming more “accepted” and that people are now realising “the consequences of the overconsumption and production and manufacturing of meat”.

Heather said she founded VBites to encourage the public to be coaxed over to a meat-free way of life.
She urged: “You can become a flexitarian before moving over to vegetarian before moving over to vegan. If people want pigs in blankets, why not have the meat-free alternative?”
VBites has worked with major companies including McDonalds, Burger King and Domino’s Pizza to help them provide sustainable vegan alternatives to their usual meat-based products, but she feels the nation needs to go further.
Heather has also credited the vegan diet with saving her life after a car accident in 1993 left her needing her leg amputated. She claimed that abstaining from animal products dramatically improved her health. She later had a prosthetic leg fitted.
