Cancer is a devastating disease that affects up to 400,000 people in the UK every year. It occurs when abnormal cells in the body grow and divide uncontrollably.<\/p>\n
It can also spread to tissues in other parts of the body and if not caught in time can be fatal. Like many diseases, there are a number of factors that can increase your risk of cancer.<\/p>\n
These can include family history, diet, weight, whether you smoke and exposure to certain substances. However, where you live can also affect your risk.<\/p>\n
New data has revealed that people in some parts of England are up to 70 percent more likely to die of the disease than in other areas. It is thought this could be linked to certain lifestyle habits but also screening update, diagnosis delays and access to care.<\/p>\n
But which areas were most affected by this disparity?<\/p>\n
READ MORE <\/strong> The gruesome sign of lung cancer to spot in your fingers<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Northern cities such as Liverpool and Hull, as well as some coastal areas, were found to have the highest cancer death rates in England.<\/p>\n Perhaps unsurprisingly, wealthy parts of London had the lowest death toll.<\/p>\n But taking the top spot was Manchester, where in 2019 the risk of men under the age of 80 dying from cancer was 22.1 percent.<\/p>\n It was also the most dangerous area for women, where the risk for dying from cancer was 17 percent.<\/p>\n Don’t miss… <\/strong>
