Heather Mills claims veganism ‘healed’ her after two weeks<\/h3>\n

Sir Paul McCartney’s ex-wife Heather Mills’ has confirmed the collapse of her meat-free food company of 30 years, VBites. The vegan firm is set to go into administration with 112 jobs at risk.<\/p>\n

A “devastated” Heather blamed the closure firmly at the hands of “corporate greed” and “misinformation” in an announcement on social media and her website.<\/p>\n

She wrote: “It’s with regret that VBites Foods, a company very dear to my heart, is entering into administration. I offered every solution I feasibly could to keep it going.<\/p>\n

“Sadly VBites ultimately fell victim to the galvanised misinformation currently being undertaken by the meat and dairy industries as well as the corporate greed in our market.”<\/p>\n

Heather, who also paid tribute to workers at the firm who had put “blood, sweat and tears” into the company, also blamed inflation and Brexit for the business’ demise.<\/p>\n

“Brexit has been an utter disaster for the supply and maintenance of the sector and the government doubtless has a lot to answer for,” she continued.<\/p>\n

The animal-rights activist and vegan launched VBites in 1993 and it soon became one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and wholesalers of plant-based meat and cheese.<\/p>\n

Last month she recalled that when she first became a vegan 30 years ago, she felt she was regarded as “the biggest weirdo on the planet”.<\/p>\n

However, she stated that the practice is becoming more “accepted” and that people are now realising “the consequences of the overconsumption and production and manufacturing of meat”.<\/p>\n
