Furious I’m a Celebrity fans have vowed to stop watching the show, after yet another contestant was eliminated before controversial politician Nigel Farage.

Danielle Harold became the fifth contestant to be eliminated from the show on Thursday evening (7 December), as she followed hot on the heels of former campmates Nick Pickard, Fred Sirieix, Nella Rose and Frankie Dettori, who were all voted out of the show this week.

But fans couldn’t quite understand how Danielle had been the latest star to leave the camp, while former MEP Nigel Farage remained – even despite thousands of complaints prior to his involvement in the show, when it was first announced he would be taking part.

“Who out there is voting for Nigel Farage?! Like seriously?! How can he have more votes than Nick and Danielle?! I’m shook!” wrote one horrified fan, following Danielle’s exit.

“Danielle is such a wonderful, kind, sweet woman and everyone who voted to keep Nigel in over someone like her should be deeply ashamed of themselves,” wrote another.

Before a third fan commented: “Not Danielle! Who the hell is voting for Nigel and kicking all the good ones out?”

The latest backlash comes just one day after Hollyoaks actor Nick Pickard was voted off the show, leaving many fans baffled as to how the fan favourite could have been axed so early.

Speaking on social media one fan wrote: "Nick!? Bloody Nick! SCANDALOUS! Boycott.”

Before a second viewer echoed the sentiment and wrote: "This is where I stop watching I’m a celeb, f**k the show bye Twitter.”

Several other fans throughout the course of the week have also questioned how a divisive political figure such as Nigel Farage could continue to progress throughout the competition, given his controversial views.

Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley made a valiant attempt to address this very question during his latest column for The Spectator., when he wrote: “ One reasonNigel Farage is currently making such a successful Jungle Jim is because he doesn’t duck a discussion or swerve a question. Camp-mates – and viewers – may not like what he says, but they appreciate the direct response.

"It makes a change from most politicians. It doesn’t matter what question you ask them: if they can dodge it, they will. It’s almost a reflex and it drives me potty when I’m co-hosting Good Morning Britain.”

He continued: "Farage will just stick his head out of the window and tell you if it’s raining or not. He’ll happily bare all, be it his buttocks or his thoughts. I think he worked out, long before going into the jungle, that the remorselessly recording cameras and permanently unmuted microphones would rapidly reveal any artifice or pretence. So he doesn’t try.”

During his time in camp, Nigel has been taken to task numerous times by his fellow camp-mates, who took issue with some of his political views, with Fred and Nella in particular being the most vocal.

While in camp, Fred accepted he and the ex UKIP leader would never see eye to eye, meanwhile Nella didn’t pull any punches as she flat out accused Nigel of being “anti-immigrant” something he staunchly denied.

Since their departure however, the political discourse in camp has largely died down, with less people on hand to challenge some of Nigel’s more controversial viewpoints.
