Former Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole has criticised the show's semi-finalist Bobby Brazier ahead of the show's semi-final weekend.

The 47 year old professional dancer claimed the EastEnders actor, 20, who is partnered up with pro Dianne Buswell, 34, has been "overmarked" with the judges' scores.

The New Zealand dancer was a star on the BBC competition for an incredible 14 years, and was partnered up with celebrities between 2004 and 2018.

Despite a colourful end to his tenure in the Strictly ballroom, as Brendan was known for talking back to the judges and criticising their scores, the TV star continues to share his opinions and critiques of the current couples on his social media pages.

Speaking to Sky Bingo in a new interview, Brendan went into more detail on the latest instalment as he said: "[A score of 33] was about right for Annabel [Croft]. The judges have been overmarking everybody from the start so it's hard to gauge. If I'd have been marking it would have been a seven or an eight.

‌"Bobby [Brazier] shouldn't have had anywhere near 34, but that's the nature of the beast.

"What the judges see and what we see on television is often different," the dancer went on. "It's not always that easy to compare the two.

"‌In the studio you get a hyped audience, you get the audiences’ reaction, you get different lighting effects that we don't see at home, plus [the judges] tend to really like him as a personality on the show," the star added.

OK! has contacted a representative at Strictly Come Dancing for comment on Brendan's claims.

Bobby, who shared a sweet moment with his grandmother Jackiey after the weekend, and Dianne were tasked with performing a difficult Salsa set to the iconic track (I've Had) The Time of My Life from 1987 romcom favourite Dirty Dancing.

The pair were made over into the characters of Johnny Castle and Baby for the dance, as they brought the house down for Strictly Come Dancing's musicals week.

While the judges praised the pair for many of their tricky moves and Shirley Ballas in particular was impressed with Bobby's footwork, Craig Revel Horwood was the only one to comment on the duo's awkward final lift.

The couple had tried to recreate Johnny and Baby's spectacular lift from the show, but unfortunately Bobby lost his balance and as a result Dianne wobbled in the air. Despite their mistakes, the duo managed to rack up 34 points from their scores.

Fans will never know if the pair would have gone through to the semi-finals had Nigel Harman and Katya Jones still been in the competition, as bosses cancelled the elimination last weekend.

Nigel , 50, had been due to perform an entertaining and masterful Charleston to Step in Time from the Mary Poppins musical, but sadly had to pull out at the last minute after he sustained a rib injury.

As a result, the four remaining couples were all sent through to the semi-finals and their scores from the quarter final will be combined.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 7.35pm on BBC One
