FORMER Argentina star Jose Luiz Gomez is now without a club and drives for Uber to earn a living.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But just a few years ago the right-back was playing for Argentina against Brazil.<\/p>\n


\n<\/p>\n

He played 52 minutes of the clash alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain to earn his one and only cap.<\/p>\n

But following that match in 2017, Gomez's career quickly went downhill as the defender was plagued by injuries.<\/p>\n

A knee issue kept him out for a reported 133 days in 2020, but his problems started two years prior.<\/p>\n

Gomez, 30, helped Lanus reach the Copa Libertadores final in 2017 where they lost to Gremio.<\/p>\n

But the following year injuries restricted him to just three games, and he failed to reach double figures in appearances in a single season before his release in 2021.<\/p>\n

Gomez now works as an Uber driver in Argentina but he has not given up hope of returning to football.<\/p>\n

His last game was a four-minute substitute appearance for Lanus in a Copa Sudamericana clash against La Equidad, but he still trains and aims to restart his career.<\/p>\n

Gomez was previously tipped to establish himself as a potential mainstay for his country, having starred as an ever-present for Argentina's Under-23s at the Olympics in 2016. <\/p>\n
