MANCHESTER CITY and Liverpool clash in Saturday's eagerly-anticipated Premier League showdown at the Etihad Stadium.

It's not exactly a straightforward return to the Premier League for Manchester City or Liverpool this weekend as they clash at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.

It looks as though the English heavyweights will again be challenging for the ultimate prize, and three points over a direct title rival could be pivotal come May.

The pair are separated by a single point in the division with the Cityzens top after 12 league fixtures with 28 points from a possible 36.

Hype surrounds this contest, and it nearly always delivers with 38 goals scored in their last 11 meetings.

Jurgen Klopp's side enjoyed a run of three-straight wins over City, but Pep Guardiola's side turned the tide in their two most recent clashes – winning them 4-1 and 3-2.

Though both sides have been flying at times this season, both have shown vulnerabilities – especially in City's case having lost to Wolves and conceded four against Chelsea last time out.

Then again, City do boast a 100% home record while Liverpool's away record is worse than both Crystal Palace and Everton (W2, D3, L1).

Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.

Make no mistake about it, Liverpool are motoring. Only Manchester City and Aston Villa have scored more league goals than Jurgen Klopp's side, who have an embarrassment of riches in attack.

The Reds have been particularly potent in their last four Premier League matches, firing off 88 efforts at an average of one shot every 4.5 minutes – that's 21 more than the next best.

30 of those have been on target with no other club managing more attempts from inside the opposition's penalty area.

And that look promising from Liverpool's perspective given City have actually conceded more efforts on target than Everton, Wolves and Brentford in their last four outings.

Liverpool have scored 2+ goals in five of their last seven games against the treble-winners, and we think they are more than capable of doing it again at 6/4.

Bernardo Silva lives for these contests. The Portuguese maestro, 29, has an ugly side to his game that's often seen against top opponents.

The versatile midfielder will be tasked with throwing himself around the pitch and could easily find his name in the referee's notebook for the 55th time in his career.

A booking feels likely, especially given he's already collected FIVE in 16 appearances against Liverpool – the most against any side he's faced.

Mr X-Factor should come up trumps once again having finally nailed down a starting role for Liverpool.

And he's not wasted any time in making his presence felt. The 24-year-old has scored nine goals in his last 11 appearances for Liverpool and Uruguay, including three against Argentina and Bolivia.

Only Mohamed Salah can better Nunez's 38 attempts at goal this season – but it has taken him nearly double the number of minutes to achieve that feat.

Nunez is averaging an effort every 18 minutes – far higher than Salah and Diogo Jota at 27 minutes. The master of chaos can capitalise on his excellent form and we're backing him to fire off at least two shots on target this weekend.
