A woman jumped into frame in the distance, flailing her\u00a0arms and whooping.<\/p>\n<p>But suddenly a young man in a flannel shirt leapt behind Hermes, flexed and shouted &#8216;Yeah boy!&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>He threw his arms around the journalist&#8217;s shoulders as Hermes wheeled around, confused.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/21\/03\/78046105-12773477-Grant_Hermes_a_reporter_with_WHDH_7News_was_reporting_outside_TD-a-4_1700538306856.jpg\" height=\"359\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Grant Hermes, a reporter with WHDH 7News, was reporting outside TD Garden in Boston<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/21\/03\/78046099-12773477-image-a-34_1700537628638.jpg\" height=\"357\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>An elderly woman appeared in the background, waving her arms, before a man in a flannel shirt ran up behind him<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/21\/03\/78046017-12773477-image-a-31_1700537584906.jpg\" height=\"357\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The man flexed, shouted &#8216;Yeah boy!&#8217; and grabbed Hermes from behind, giving him no time to react<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/21\/03\/78046019-12773477-image-a-30_1700537581829.jpg\" height=\"357\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The reporter shoved the man off and chased him off camera, admonishing: &#8216;Don&#8217;t do that, dude&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The reporter pushed the stranger off and chased him away, saying: &#8216;Don&#8217;t do that, dude.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after the incident, Hermes took to social media to post the clip with a message.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I&#8217;m fine. My photog is fine. But I wanna be clear how not ok this is,&#8217; he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The people you see on TV are at work, at a job where people make threats at us regularly. So we don&#8217;t know when you yell at us, run into our live shots or grab us, we don&#8217;t know what you&#8217;re there to do.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Hermes continued: &#8216;I&#8217;m glad this guy wasn&#8217;t someone with a gun or a knife or who wanted to hurt me or my photographer. But the point is there are those people out there. We&#8217;ve seen it happen.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;So the next time you think about getting your 3 seconds of fame at a reporter&#8217;s expense. Don&#8217;t.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>In the wake of the incident, several other journalists voiced their support.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Not ok at all,&#8217; newscaster Dave Bondy wrote.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Oh no, here&#8217;s what we&#8217;re NOT going to do.
