A POPULAR second-hand fashion website is opening a number of stores before Christmas.

The online marketplace is popular among people who want to snap up a designer bargain or sell their own unwanted clothing.

Depop is set to launch a series of pop-ups over six months across the UK in partnership with retail pop-up provider Sook.

The stores will take over iconic retail spaces including Oxford Street in London, the Birmingham Bullring, Liverpool One and Edinburgh's St James Quarter.

The first four pop-up stores will feature in London throughout November and December, encouraging more people to shop second-hand.

It is also hoped that the new stores will revive the high street and allow shoppers to pick up a bargain just in time for the Christmas Party season.

Depop will bring eleven unique sellers into the pop-up spaces in Central London with a mix of vintage, designer and original pieces.

The first event will be on November, 30 and run until December, 3.

Independent business known as @KathandRosa will take over the pop-up store on South Molton Street in central London.

All of the sellers have something different to offer and if you would like a taste of what to expect you can visit their online shops via Depop using their user names as below.

A full list of the dates and retailers you can expect to see "popping up" are as follows:

More pop-ups will be coming in 2024 but the details are yet to be revealed.

Steve Dool, director of brand and marketing at Depop said: "We’re excited to be working with Sook again to give people the opportunity to shop from their favourite Depop sellers "By partnering with Sook, we hope we can reach and inspire more people to look to circular fashion options that are kinder to the planet, rather than buying new."

Depop is not the only online marketplace when it comes to buying and selling your clothes online.

You can also look at others such as Vinted, eBay and Etsy.

Although Vinted also does not offer PayPal as a payment method and eBay only offers it to buyers as an option and not sellers.

There are also some things to consider when you choose to sell items online.

For example, some platforms charge sellers a fee or take commission that can eat into profits.

On Etsy, there is a 16p listing fee, 6.5 % transaction fee, 4% + 20p payment processing fee to take into account.

You can list up to 1,000 items a month on eBay for free.

You’ll pay a commission of 12.8% on what you sell, plus a 30p fee.

An easy option when it comes to selling to potential buyers in your local area is Facebook Marketplace.

You might not get a high price as most people are looking for a bargain, but it is fairly hassle-free and you don't pay commission or listing fees.

Meanwhile, one Depop expert has revealed how you can make hundreds of pounds just be clearing out your wardrobe.

Also, two savvy shoppers have revealed how they bought a t-shirt for £2 from a charity shop – but resold it for £220 on Depop.

Plus, a mum has revealed how she makes £800 a month just by selling her family's worn clothes on Vinted.

</picture>BILL BOOST
