Martin Kemp has admitted he has been worried about his son Roman Kemp’s mental health, but is proud of the “man he is becoming”.<\/p>\n

Capital Breakfast show host Roman, 30, recently opened up about experiencing suicidal thoughts during his battle with depression which began aged 15. .<\/p>\n

In 2020, he decided to raise awareness about the importance of mental health in a BBC documentary following his best friend’s suicide. He has also since called on the Government to do more to help with the ever growing crisis.<\/p>\n

Spandeu Ballet star Martin has now discussed how much he used to worry about Roman in his younger years.<\/p>\n

Speaking on The Netmums Podcast, the singer explained that his son often confided in his wife Shirlie as a teen, but he knew what was going on and tried to help when he could.<\/p>\n

“He was hiding it a lot more [from me] and he was a lot more open with Shirlie,” Martin shared.<\/p>\n

“And I knew he was doing that, so when he was talking to me I tried to keep him up.<\/p>\n

“But obviously I saw moments in him that made me worry, I saw different things that affected him.”<\/p>\n

Fast forward the years however and Martin is proud of how Roman has turned his battle into a positive with helping others.<\/p>\n

He continued: “He went through a terrible experience with his best friend, he commited suicide a while back.<\/p>\n
