KING Charles celebrated his 75th birthday yesterday and while Prince Harry was noticeably absent, he did phone his dad from across the pond.<\/p>\n

It was the first time the father and son had spoken since April, but it\u2019s been hailed as an olive branch gesture.<\/p>\n


\n<\/p>\n

Charles is also understood to have spoken to daughter-in-law Meghan during the transatlantic call.<\/p>\n

The Sun understands that during yesterday\u2019s chats were friendly and cordial, and Harry, Meghan and Charles made plans for them to speak again soon.<\/p>\n

A source said: \u201cThe King was extremely busy but is polite and loves his son and his grandchildren, and not so mean that he would not take a call on his birthday.\u201d<\/p>\n

They added: \u201cThere is still a long way to go to mend the rift created over many years \u2014 and the deeper issues caused by allegations in the Netflix series and Spare are not healed with a phone call.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Harry, 39, hasn\u2019t seen his dad since Charles\u2019s Coronation.in May, despite being in the UK in September, the monarch is said to be keeping the door open for his \u201cdear boy\u201d.<\/p>\n

Queen Camilla and Prince William are said to be more wary and have advised Charles to not engage with Harry after he blasted the Royal Family and the UK on Netflix and in Spare.<\/p>\n

Harry and Charles reportedly have not spoken face to face since Queen Elizabeth\u2019s funeral in September last year and it is known the king has previously been reluctant to take Harry\u2019s calls following rows over Megxit and his money.<\/p>\n

Harry\u2019s camp actively made it known he was going to call his father ahead of the call.<\/p>\n

Charles had insisted his birthday would be a \u201cnormal working day\u201d.<\/p>\n

He chose to spend it helping those suffering from food poverty and to recognise the heroic efforts of the NHS staff and midwives.<\/p>\n

He was full of smiles when he was joined by Camilla in Didcot, Oxon, to launch his much-heralded Coronation Food Project, which aims to end food waste. He laughed nervously as he was treated to a rendition of Happy Birthday at the South Oxford Food and Education Alliance.<\/p>\n

The King chatted to food \u201cinfluencers\u201d, including 2021 Bake Off runner-up Crystelle Pereira, and the chief execs of several major supermarkets and food suppliers.<\/p>\n

Later, Charles hosted 400 healthcare professionals at Buckingham Palace \u2014 remarking how he had reached his own personal milestone in the same year as the NHS turned 75.<\/p>\n

Health workers from India, the Philippines, Poland and Kenya, representing 150,000 international NHS workers, met the King, along with several Palestinian nurses who were previously displaced in Lebanon and Jordan.<\/p>\n

Last night, the King was surrounded by close friends and family at Clarence House for dinner.<\/p>\n

The Prince<\/span> and Princess of Wales<\/span> were spotted leaving close to midnight after celebrating the monarch hitting 75.<\/p>\n
