ARSENAL have issued a statement in support of manager Mikel Arteta following his passionate rant about VAR. <\/p>\n

The Gunners boss was left incensed after his team were on the receiving end of a number of controversial decisions during their 1-0 loss to Newcastle on Saturday.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

And now the club have released an official statement offering their support of the Spaniard on their website. <\/p>\n

It read: "Arsenal Football Club wholeheartedly supports Mikel Arteta\u2019s post-match comments after yet more unacceptable refereeing and VAR errors on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n

"We\u2019d also like to acknowledge the huge effort and performance from our players and travelling supporters at St James\u2019 Park.<\/p>\n

"The Premier League is the best league in the world with the best players, coaches and supporters, all of whom deserve better. <\/p>\n

On top of the controversy surrounding the goal, Arsenal fans and players alike were left scratching their heads over VAR's decision not to send off Bruno Guimaraes. <\/p>\n

The Newcastle midfielder was let off without so much as a yellow card after his flailing arm clattered into the back of Jorginho's head.<\/p>\n

After his side succumbed to their first Premier League defeat of the season Arteta did not hold back on his analysis of the officiating.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: "I have praised my players for the performance and the way that we played – we didn\u2019t deserve to lose the match.<\/p>\n

"We lost the match because of the clear and obvious decisions. It\u2019s embarrassing. It\u2019s a disgrace. That\u2019s what it is, a disgrace.\u201d<\/p>\n

And when asked if he was planning to escalate the issue with the PGMOL, Arteta vowed to take it up with those at the top. <\/p>\n

He said: "Yeah. We will be taking it for many months. There is so much at stake and we put in so many hours.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am here to represent the football club and to get my team to compete at the highest level.<\/p>\n
