Many of us will be getting into the festive spirit this weekend.<\/p>\n

Bonfire Night displays are taking place across the country in celebration of Guy Fawkes' infamous plot \u2013 but there are some rules you should be aware of before you set off any fireworks of your own.<\/p>\n

Failing to abide by the guidelines could see you slapped with an on-the-spot fine of \u00a390. As well as this, you can be fined an unlimited amount and imprisoned for up to six months for selling or using fireworks illegally.<\/p>\n

So which rules should you stick to on the November 5 celebration? Check with your local council to find out about restrictions in your area \u2013 and always be sure to follow the below rules.<\/p>\n

According to the gov.uk website, you must be over the age of 18 to buy "adult fireworks", which tend to be everything but party poppers.<\/p>\n

You must also never set off fireworks in the middle of the night. Rules state it should be quiet between 11pm and 7am.<\/p>\n

There are some exceptions like Bonfire Night, where you can light fireworks until midnight. And on New Year\u2019s Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year, displays are allowed until 1am.<\/p>\n

When it comes to private use, you can only buy fireworks (including sparklers) from registered sellers on the following dates.<\/p>\n
