MORE than one in 10 adults have never changed their hair do \u2013 with a fifth keeping the same style for more than a decade at a time.<\/p>\n
A study of 2,000 women and 1,000 men found 20 per cent stick with the same look because they are too worried about a hair disaster, while 12 per cent don\u2019t know how to style their tresses.<\/p>\n

And almost one in 10 (eight per cent) have 'bad hair day' fear.<\/p>\n
It also emerged 26 per cent consider their hair a part of their identity, and 15 per cent use it as a way of expressing themselves.<\/p>\n
As a result, 41 per cent feel self-conscious when having a bad hair day, with 19 per cent claiming it can lower their mood and impact their day.<\/p>\n
While one in 10 become hypersensitive towards criticism and six per cent even cancel plans when they aren\u2019t happy with how their hair looks.<\/p>\n
The research was commissioned by Shark Beauty, which launched a Hair-itage Salon and Hair-story Gallery in London \u2013 a pop up space celebrating the role hair has played in shaping culture throughout the years.<\/p>\n
Lana Sanleandro, of SharkNinja EMEA, which is expanding its haircare range, said: \u201cHair is so versatile but such an important element to us feeling self-confident.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur hair can give us the opportunity to totally reinvent who we are, but it should feel like care and not a chore.\u201d<\/p>\n
The study also found 69 per cent feel their hair has an impact on their mood, with 35 per cent claiming their hair boosts their confidence.<\/p>\n
<\/picture>KAT GOT THE CRIM <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>TOP TRAMPS <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>JUNGLE’S LATEST SIGNING <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>OFF THE SHELF <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n And 30 per cent see hairstyling as a form of self-care.<\/p>\n As a result, a quarter have undergone a hair alteration to help give themselves a boost after going through a tough period.<\/p>\n Break ups, becoming a parent and following TikTok trends are also among the reasons adults have shaken up their style.<\/p>\n The research, carried out via OnePoll, also found 28 per cent like to experiment with their hair and, when the time has come for a change in appearance, 29 per cent will act on impulse.<\/p>\n Among the most popular hair transformations including cutting hair dramatically shorter (63 per cent) and opting for \u2018unnatural\u2019 colours (27 per cent).<\/p>\n It also emerged 11 per cent of those who have altered their look over the years have never kept the same hairstyle for longer than three months.<\/p>\n While the top things they've learnt about their hair include the unrealistic standards set by social media (17 per cent), not always needing the help of a professional to get a good cut (12 per cent) and that successful styling is the most important part of a do (13 per cent).<\/p>\n Lana Sanleandro, for Shark Beauty, which has launched SmoothStyle and SpeedStyle, added: \u201cMaintaining a look can be fun and the chance to experiment with what works and what doesn\u2019t for minimal effort.<\/p>\n \u201cOur newly launched tools empower people to experiment with hair within the comfort of their home \u2013 and their own boundaries."<\/p>\nJessie Wallace seen on boozy night out with road rage killer Kenneth Noye<\/h3>\n
