a hearty meal of oysters and lobster before dashing off without paying the bill<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/30\/11\/77171193-12688167-image-m-49_1698665490612.jpg\" height=\"599\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Staff at Stubbs Restaurant in Ashford, Kent, were left furious after welcoming a group of seven who, after racking up a tab of \u00a3489, drove off &#8216;as fast as they could&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>A post by the restaurant said the group left without paying the tab which totalled \u00a3489.90.<\/p>\n<p>According to images of the customers&#8217; receipt, the group enjoyed three lobster, crab and shrimp cocktails which cost \u00a359.95.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They then allegedly ordered two servings of crispy brie priced at \u00a317.90, as well as a more moderately priced calamari at \u00a39.95 and chicken liver parfait at \u00a38.95. There were also two orders of a dozen oysters costing \u00a316 each.<\/p>\n<p>For their mains, the large party ordered four lobster thermidors which cost a total of \u00a3216, as well as an entrecote steak with a green peppercorn sauce for \u00a331.50 and\u00a0a skate dish for \u00a323.95.<\/p>\n<p>The group also bought drinks including three pints of Thatchers at \u00a35.50 each, as well as a couple of 250ml glass of Malbec at \u00a310.90 each and various glasses of Shiraz and Pinot Grigio.<\/p>\n<p>Posting alongside images of the alleged customers, they wrote: &#8216;Please come back and pay your bill! We were eating just round the corner from them. Wondered why the waitress was looking at us, was probably afraid we would leave too.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Terrible. Become like Hotels, take a CCard Swipe when customers arrive. Anyone with good intentions will never complain at that! Good luck getting it back&#8217;, another said.<\/p>\n<p>A third pointed out: &#8216;How many more times are you going to let this happen. Surely alarm bells must ring when these people walk in and start ordering the most expensive items on the menu.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>READ MORE:\u00a0Moment two women &#8216;run away without paying their bill&#8217; after enjoying \u00a356 meal at gastropub with their children<\/h3>\n<p>&#8216;I feel for you but you&#8217;ve had this happen on multiple occasions so logic says you need to tighten your systems up.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, the restaurant encountered a similar incident.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Taking to their Facebook on May 4, they shared an image of two young men, writing: &#8216;Please come back and pay your bill&#8217;.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The MailOnline has contacted the restaurant and Kent Police for comment.<\/p>\n<p>It comes after a pub was hit twice within a few months earlier this year with diners walking out without paying.<\/p>\n<p>But one family\u00a0who were caught on CCTV &#8216;doing a runner&#8217; after enjoying \u00a3215 slap-up Father&#8217;s Day lunch at a Cornish gastropub eventually settled their tab.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The group of six allegedly ran up the bill at The Fisherman&#8217;s Arms, Newlyn, in Penzance, Cornwall in June and walked off without paying after saying they were going for a cigarette.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The pub later said that the individuals involved in the incident have &#8216;paid up&#8217;, meaning the &#8216;matter is now closed&#8217;. It added that they even overpaid &#8216;as a gesture of good will&#8217;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The pub posted on Twitter to inform people of the dramatic breakthrough.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It said: &#8216;We wish to inform you that the individuals concerned regarding The Father&#8217;s Day incident have now contacted the pub and paid the bill in full, in fact they&#8217;ve overpaid as a gesture of goodwill.
