STRUGGLING to get your kids into the land of nod? Well, you're not alone.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In fact, parents spend an hour on average to get each child off to sleep every night – with 80% having to read three bedtime stories.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

A new study has found 62% of parents with children aged 0-8 struggle to get their kids to settle for bedtime.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, a child sleep expert has revealed how to have an easier bedtime with your children – especially with the clocks going back this weekend.<\/p>\n

The poll of 1,000 parents found that three in 10 crafty kids will ask their mum or dad a series of questions before resting to try and keep them in the room.<\/p>\n

And around a quarter (23%) say they won\u2019t be able to drop off until their special toy has been found.<\/p>\n

While other stalling tactics include feeling too hot or cold (29%), claiming to be scared of the dark (25%), or hearing straight noise (17%).<\/p>\n

Just under a fifth will even claim they think there is a monster under the bed.<\/p>\n

The research was commissioned by kids\u2019 TV show Hey Duggee, in line with the launch of its new Sleepy Time bedtime toy, which revealed that 37 per cent of parents rely on giving their child a cuddly toy to help them fall asleep.<\/p>\n

Child sleep specialist Mandy Gurney, founder of Millpond Children\u2019s Sleep Clinic, who is supporting the campaign, said: \u201cWe shouldn\u2019t underestimate how important the small elements of a bedtime routine are.\u201c<\/p>\n

"Just having a lively splashy bath with lots of toys, exciting stories and chatting at bedtime can prevent a child falling asleep.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf parents can think tranquil \u2018spa\u2019 rather than fun \u2018water park\u2019 at bedtime they may be surprised how much easier bedtime becomes.<\/p>\n

"In the hour before bed, dim lights, turn off screens and keep things as calm and relaxing as you can, to enable your child to quickly and easily drift off to sleep.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was found 75% check on their child up to five times per night \u2013 and 61% can\u2019t remember the last time they had a full night\u2019s sleep.<\/p>\n

Almost three quarters of parents (70%) have suffered the consequences of their child\u2019s nighttime awakenings and have felt sleep deprived.<\/p>\n

When a little one does wake up in the night, 28% will bring them into their own bed to help them go back to sleep.<\/p>\n

But 13% of those polled via OnePoll will rely on some kind of audio soothing system, like low music or white noise, to usher<\/span> them back to the land of nod.<\/p>\n

Mandy Gurney added: \u201cAt 2am on Sunday 29th October the clocks will go back by an hour in the UK.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile some of us will be looking forward to an extra hour in bed or out on the town, parents of early rising little ones may be dreading the change.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust when they\u2019d got their child to sleep until 6.00am, the clock change will play havoc with their child\u2019s morning wake time and this thought will send many parents into a spin.<\/p>\n
