Gordon Ramsay has sparked backlash online for claiming he was \u201cskint\u201d when he asked his wife\u2019s father for a loan to buy a flat.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were young, we were stupid, we were skint,\u201d he told Jake Humphrey on his High Performance podcast.<\/p>\n

Ramsay claimed he and his wife Tara \u201cfell in love\u201d with a flat and asked to borrow \u00a320,000 for a deposit.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe said, \u2018Here\u2019s what I\u2019ll do\u2019,\u201d he recalled. \u201c\u2018I\u2019ll have another lunch with you when you sell your Porsche\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought, \u2018you f**ker\u2019. But \u2018you clever f**ker\u2019. Here I am driving around in a flash f**king 911 and we didn\u2019t even have a f**king house.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe didn\u2019t have a flat, we didn\u2019t have a roof over our heads. It was the best advice he ever gave me.\u201d<\/p>\n

The clip has been mocked and criticised on social media, with many X\/Twitter users claiming he was \u201cout of touch\u201d.<\/p>\n

@The_Paris_Angel posted: \u201cI appreciate that there are bigger concerns in the world right now but, I cannot lie, that Gordon Ramsay\/Jake Humphrey thing has f**king rattled me.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo he’s going for a flat way beyond his budget, scavving off his missus’s Dad and then buys his old car back. F**k me. What a loser.\u201d<\/p>\n
