<\/p>\nSam Neill has apologised to his supporters for ‘worrying everybody’ after opening up about his stage-three blood\u00a0cancer\u00a0battle.<\/p>\n
The Jurassic Park star, 76, told Australian Story\u00a0on Monday that\u00a0chemotherapy failed to work and he is on\u00a0a new experimental drug that is now working at fighting off his non-Hodgkin blood cancer, angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma.<\/p>\n
Despite the promising news, Neill said he’s been told by his doctors that one day the drug will stop working.<\/p>\n
The actor took to Instagram on Tuesday, claiming his comments were ‘taken out of context’ and\u00a0told fans to ‘please stop worrying’.<\/p>\n
‘They showed Australian Story last night, and I made a passing remark there that the treatment I’m on, which has me in remission, will inevitably fail one day,’ he began.<\/p>\n
‘That’s what happens. It’s nothing to worry about. I’m in remission and I plan to be in remission for many years to come. I will bore you all to death with lots more work.’<\/p>\n
Neill continued: ‘At such a time the drug does fail, we’ll try something else. There’s all sorts of things that are happening with cancer [treatments] these days. It’s a whole new ball game.’<\/p>\n
‘Please stop worrying. I’ve been getting a lot of messages on social media and from friends. I’m sorry to worry everybody,’ an emotional Neill said.<\/p>\n
‘It’s all good. It’s all fine. It’s a beautiful day. I’m off to work.’<\/p>\n
During the interview on Monday, Neill said he found out last year he had cancer during his first trip back to New Zealand, after lockdowns made returning home to see his family virtually impossible for two years.<\/p>\n

‘I’m not in any way frightened of dying. That doesn’t worry me.\u00a0It’s never worried me from the beginning, but I would be annoyed,’ he added.<\/p>\n
‘I’d be annoyed because there are things I still want to do. Very irritating, dying. But I’m not afraid of it.’<\/p>\n
Symptoms of angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma can include having a high fever, night sweats, skin rash, and autoimmune disorders.\u00a0<\/p>\n
