This is the touching moment a bride who was getting married by proxy cried tears of joy when her groom made a surprise appearance at the altar.<\/p>\n
Giovana Vital Senise da Silva, 26, from\u00a0Brazil\u00a0was expecting to tie knot remotely over a video call because her partner lives in the US.<\/p>\n
Brazilian law recognises proxy marriages when one partner is not present at the wedding.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But she couldn’t contain her joy when\u00a0Danilo Alcol\u00e9a de Azevedo, 28, who is based in Florida, walked in and embraced his wife-to-be.<\/p>\n
The sweet reunion last month was captured on TikTok\u00a0by\u00a0Giovana’s brother-in-law\u00a0\u00cdcaro Furlanetto (@icarofurlanetto) and has now racked up some 1.8 million views.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘My sister-in-law was thinking that she would marry my brother by proxy, because he was in the United States,’ a caption on the video read.<\/p>\n

‘At the time of the ceremony, we called via Facetime but he “didn’t answer” and showed up by surprise! It was beautiful!’\u00a0<\/p>\n
Viewers took to the comment to express their joy, with one saying they were left in tears by the gesture.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘What a beautiful thing!!’ one remarked. ‘I think there is no more beautiful affection than crying with happiness to be with someone.’<\/p>\n
‘Beautiful,’ a second gushed.<\/p>\n
A third added: ‘I’m crying like hell.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
A proxy marriage is one where one of, or both of the people are not physically present.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It comes as a\u00a0couple have revealed how they pulled off a surprise wedding in the comfort of their own home for a fraction of the cost – having lured their friends to join them for the ceremony with an invite to a fake housewarming party.<\/p>\n
Wedding photographers Elizabeth Hasier and Holden Blanco have seen their fair share of nuptials in their line of work, so they knew what they did – and didn’t – want when planning their own celebration.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Elizabeth in particular always knew she wanted her own wedding to be a unique and intimate affair – so she decided to hold a surprise wedding in their living room, disguised as a housewarming.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The 27-year-old, from Philadelphia, and her now-husband, Holden, originally floated the idea of tying the knot in Colombia, where his extended family lives.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But after purchasing their first home in December and planning a housewarming they had a better idea – to combine the two celebrations.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘Marrying the love of my life in our living room was never how I thought I would get married – but now I can’t picture it any other way,’ Elizabeth gushed in a TikTok\u00a0video, in which she shared some of her wedding details.<\/p>\n
The bride explained she wanted to avoid not meeting their guests’ expectations about her wedding, admitting she found the thought ‘stressful.’<\/p>\n
‘You’re just putting all of your taste on display for a hundred people and hoping they like it,’ she told Insider.<\/p>\n
Instead, the newlyweds, who dated for eight years before getting married, revealed to ‘truly pull one over on people,’ they decided to opt for a sneaky surprise ceremony and celebration in July.<\/p>\n
Elizabeth shared the moment they revealed to their 45 guests that they were actually having a surprise wedding rather than the housewarming in a now-viral TikTok.<\/p>\n
‘We didn’t want to wait to get married,’ the photographer can be heard saying in the clip, which has been viewed more than 854,000 times.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘So we’re actually going to get married right now.’<\/p>\n
