Strictly Come Dancing star Adam Thomas has revealed how he “nearly cried on national television” during the second live show.

The soap star and his partner Luba Mushtuk set the iconic dance floor on fire at the weekend with a sizzling tango. Their performance faired well with the judges with Anton giving the pair a score of seven – but they still shared their critiques.

And during Thursday’s episode (October 5) of Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two, Adam recalled the extent of how hard he was on himself over the dance.

Adam fired back: “You what?!” He joked further: “You’re joking me I thought I was at the top, I thought I was doing alright!”

When quizzed on whether his nerves affected his performance, Luba said: “It’s a lot because of the nerves, he was really hard on himself.” Adam replied: “Do you think?!”

He went on: “I nearly cried on national television!” His co-stars then laughed as he added: “Over a dance! Get a grip Adam!”

For their first performance two weeks ago they bagged 19 points and for their second they went up to 23 – but the judges still dished out the critiques. Motsi Mabuse said: “This is a different Adam to last week, last week I did understand the smile to get over the nerves, this week you were more engaged, you wanted to take control over everything, and there was a power in your movement.”

Head judge Shirley then chimed in and said: “It was all a little bit soft, we could move a little bit more moving forward on your footwork.” Anton also noted “some mistakes” with Adam and Luba being “out of sync with each other.”

After the dance, Adam kept his cheery attitude as host Claudia Winkleman asked how he was doing. He sarcastically replied: "Yeah, I’m great. I’m on top of the world."
