Emmerdale: Gail gets a mystery phone call<\/h3>\n

Earlier this week fans were surprised to see Ryan Stocks (James Moore) pack his bags and leave the village of Emmerdale.<\/p>\n

But just a day later he made an unexpected return in emotional scenes.<\/p>\n

Ryan initially decided to leave the Dales after his secret son \u2013 whom Ryan and his partner Gail Loman (Rachael Gill-Davis) had given up for adoption over a decade ago \u2013 surprisingly came back into his life.<\/p>\n

Just as viewers were coming to terms with the fact that Ryan was actually a father and that Gail had fallen pregnant when they first dated many years ago, the beloved character decided to take some time away to process things.<\/p>\n

And, at the time, he didn\u2019t reveal when he might return home.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Thankfully for fans of the character, he wasn\u2019t away for too long and returned in the latest instalment of the ITV soap.<\/p>\n

After being away for just one day, Gail was surprised but relieved to have him come back.<\/p>\n

The pair were finally able to chat about why he decided to up and leave and why he was reluctant to meet their son.<\/p>\n

While Gail apologised for keeping things from him \u2013 she had been in contact with Oscar\u2019s adoptive mother, Sophie, after she found out that he was unwell and potentially needed a genetic stem cell transplant match \u2013 Ryan shared why he was afraid to meet Oscar properly for the first time.<\/p>\n

He was worried that Oscar wouldn\u2019t want to meet him and would ultimately be \u201cdisappointed\u201d when he did.<\/p>\n

During their open conversation, Gail asked Ryan what he meant by that and he quickly referred to a past comment that she had made when they gave Oscar up for adoption.<\/p>\n

While she had mentioned that it would be difficult for them to raise a child, she had mentioned Ryan’s cerebral palsy as being one of those difficulties, with Ryan thinking that she would have had “to do everything on her own”.<\/p>\n

He feared he was the reason that Gail had given their son up for adoption and him being of \u201cno use to anyone\u201d prompted him to leave.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Gail reassured Ryan that his medical condition was not the sole reason for their decision all those years ago.<\/p>\n

Ryan admitted: \u201cI’m scared he’ll hate me because I abandoned him, I gave him up. If I was him I would hate me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite this, he vowed to help Oscar in any way that he could, even if he may still need some more time to get his head around everything.<\/p>\n

Viewers will need to tune in to see how the storyline progresses in upcoming episodes.<\/p>\n

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
