THE world's top golfers from Europe and USA are set to compete for the Ryder Cup.<\/p>\n

All the action takes place in Rome at the prestigious Marco Simone Golf & Country Club.<\/p>\n

But it's the fame restaurant that steals the headlines.<\/p>\n

Fine dining<\/h2>\n

In a city and country that prides itself on haute cuisine, Rome Cavalieri's La Pergola is remarkably the only three-star Michelin restaurant in the Italian capital.<\/p>\n

The eaterie is found on the top floor, which has panoramic views, andthe menu is expertly crafted by Heinz Beck, often referred to as one of the most notable 'Masters' of gastronomy.<\/p>\n

No doubt he will prep a meal for the Ryder Cup stars before they take centre stage on the green.<\/p>\n

His specialities include foie gras with chestnuts and figs, hare tortellini, and Saint Peter's fish in a liquorice crust.<\/p>\n

Other delights include pigeon with honey, propolis and pollen that's listed on the menu for \u00a362.<\/p>\n

While diners can savour red mullet on Roman zucchini, ashed buttermilk and Kaffir lime oil for \u00a368, if they get the chance to make a booking because waiting times are huge.<\/p>\n

A second restaurant called L\u2019Uliveto serves salads, pasta, meat dishes at more regular prices.<\/p>\n

Duck breast with blueberries and wild aalad aaut\u00e9ed with garlic, oil and chilli costs around \u00a321.<\/p>\n

While a marango beef fillet will set you back \u00a326.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Grand Spa Club<\/h2>\n

If the players are looking for some downtime away from the course, they should certainly use the hotel's spa.<\/p>\n

The Grand Spa Club is as esteemed as it sounds.<\/p>\n

It is recognised as one of the best in Italy, with no expensive spared.<\/p>\n

Guests get to enjoy\u00a0La Prairie and Aromatherapy Associates products, ideal for today's pampered golf stars.<\/p>\n

And they will have access to the spa's indoor pools, amethyst Turkish bath, hot tub and saunas.<\/p>\n

For the even more health conscious, the spa has an exercise studio.<\/p>\n

There, you can take advantage of a yoga, pilates, or fitness trainer.<\/p>\n

Expect Europe and the USA to scrub up well when the action begins on Friday.<\/p>\n

Distance to travel<\/h2>\n

However, the Ryder Cup stars will have to get ready in a hurry.<\/p>\n

The distance between the Rome Cavalieri and the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club is a whopping 16 miles.<\/p>\n

Without traffic, that could take at least 33 minutes.<\/p>\n

Downtown Rome is also over half an hour away, so the golfers will only have one thing on their – playing.<\/p>\n

The reviews are in<\/h2>\n

According to Tripadvisor, the Rome Cavalieri is ranked 164 out of 1,387 hotels in the Eternal City.<\/p>\n

From over 7,400 reviews it scores a very high four and a half out of five.<\/p>\n

And previous guests have plenty to say.<\/p>\n

One wrote: "The cavalier is the best hotel in Rome. The location overlooking Rome, the pool is by far the best in Rome. <\/p>\n

"The fitness center is large and has plenty of equipment. I would only go to the Rome cavalier when in Rome."<\/p>\n

A second shared: "Because of the hotel location (on the highest hill of Rome) and high floor (7th and 8th are highest leaving floors, on 9th only restaurants and terraces are located) the view is really breathtaking.<\/p>\n

"You have absolutely uninterrupted Rome view including, if you are lucky, (depending of room location on the floor) dome of St. Peters Cathedral."<\/p>\n

But it's not all positive. There are a few bad write-ups too.<\/p>\n

One moaned: "Old over priced hotel…a thing in the 60s."<\/p>\n

Another gave it just one star, adding: "Not quite what I hoped. <\/p>\n
