A mum made up a hilarious lie when a ‘jobsworth’ receptionist at Manchester Airport told her she couldn’t enter the lounge while wearing hair rollers

Lisa Connor, from Sandbach, Cheshire, was travelling with rollers in her hair so she could be ready to party as soon as she landed in Alicante with her girls.

The busy mum juggles two jobs whilst frequently jetting off around the globe as managing director of ‘The World Famous Elvis Show’, with Elvis impersonator and estranged husband Chris Connor.

Lisa said her girls’ holiday was ‘just what she needed’.

But the 47-year-old was told she couldn’t enter the pre-booked lounge because her hair rollers went against the dress code.

Lisa and her four mum friends plotted to hide the rollers under a silk scarf in a bid to get her into the swanky lounge.

‘The lady in the lounge instantly asked what was under the scarf, and then she asked if it was rollers,’ said Lisa.

‘I said “I’ve got a scalp condition, thank you”.

‘She looked at me as if to say “you’re lying” but I knew she wouldn’t be able to question a medical issue.

‘I went in and every time I looked over she was staring at me. She wasn’t happy at all. She didn’t want me in that lounge.’

Lisa said the receptionist, who she branded a ‘jobsworth’ knew she had rollers in.

‘Everybody in the airport knew I had rollers in,’ Lisa added.

‘Girls with rollers in are a common sight, especially if they’re coming from Liverpool.

‘I always travel in rollers. I’ve travelled all over the world with the [Elvis] show, nearly always with rollers in. It’s never been a problem before, and I always go into lounges.

‘But for some reason they’ve got a new rule where you’re not allowed rollers in.’

Thankfully, her plan worked, and Lisa was able to wear her freshly curled hair straight to the bar after unpacking her suitcase in Benidorm.

‘We were planning on going straight out, hence the rollers,’ Lisa said.

‘We were going to arrive in our hotel rooms, quickly put our evening clothes on, brush through our hair and get ourselves out. We wanted a party night.

‘It was all worth it. My hair was massive when I got there.

‘It had all the volume I wanted and lasted the whole night. It was hot, but nothing that hairspray couldn’t help.’
