{"id":130531,"date":"2023-09-19T18:08:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-19T18:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bluemull.com\/?p=130531"},"modified":"2023-09-19T18:08:00","modified_gmt":"2023-09-19T18:08:00","slug":"what-nicky-newman-wanted-you-to-know-about-before-she-died","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bluemull.com\/lifestyle\/what-nicky-newman-wanted-you-to-know-about-before-she-died\/","title":{"rendered":"What Nicky Newman wanted you to know about before she died"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/SEC_172309222-f3c1.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Influencer, Nicky Newman, was known for her positive outlook on life, despite battling stage four breast cancer.<\/p>\n<p>But after living with the disease for over five years, her family shared the heartbreaking news on social media that she had passed away, aged 35.<\/p>\n<p>In a post written by Nicky before her death, she wrote: \u2018If you\u2019re reading this it means I have died\u2026 the cancer eventually took over and that\u2019s okay, we knew this would happen.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>She continued: \u2018Please promise me to cherish those around you and give your friends and loved one the biggest squeezes! GO GRAB LIFE! You never truly know what is coming around the corner \u2013 so don\u2019t take anything for granted.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>After her diagnosis in April 2018, Nicky took to Instagram to share her journey and raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer.<\/p>\n<p>She posted guides on \u2018how to check your tattas\u2019, encouraging her followers to check for lumps, bumps and changes once a month \u2013 every month.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CDlnmLQgt5R\/<\/p>\n<p>If found early, breast cancer is treatable \u2013 so it\u2019s important to get to know your body, and what is normal for you.<\/p>\n<p>So, if you do one thing to honour Nicky\u2019s legacy, pop a reminder in your calendar to check your boobs once a month \u2013 and make sure you actually do it.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the Nicky recommended routine for checking your breasts\u2026<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/themes\/metro-parent\/img\/fallback.png\"><\/p>\n<p>She also added a handy checklist of points to remember:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check those tattas every month<\/li>\n<li>Early detection saves lives<\/li>\n<li>Notice anything off, get checked by a GP<\/li>\n<li>Most lumps are normal but need checking out<\/li>\n<li>Check 7\/10 days post period<\/li>\n<li>Get to know your normal<\/li>\n<li>Try to check at the same time each month<\/li>\n<li>Check standing up, laying down, upside down, however is comfortable for you<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CGSv-SMl6qe\/<\/p>\n<p>Nicky had metastatic breast cancer, meaning it had spread to other parts of the body. <\/p>\n<p>She also shared a guide on the signs and symptoms of secondary breast cancer to be aware of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ongoing headaches that don\u2019t get better with pain medication<\/li>\n<li>Persistent dry cough or shortness of breathe<\/li>\n<li>Swellings or feeling uncomfortable in your tummy<\/li>\n<li>Blurred vision, loss of balance, numbness in legs or arms<\/li>\n<li>Extreme fatigue or tiredness<\/li>\n<li>New lumps in your tatta, under arm or collarbone<\/li>\n<li>Painful bones\/joints that doesn\u2019t improve with painkillers, pain also may be worse at night<\/li>\n<li>Loss of appetite\/weight<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you notice any changes, contact your GP \u2013 it\u2019s always better to get things checked out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you have a story to share?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Get in touch by emailing MetroLifestyleTeam@Metro.co.uk.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2023\/09\/19\/what-nicky-newman-wanted-you-to-know-about-before-she-died-19521644\/?ico=zone-widget_home_lifestyle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read Full Article<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Influencer, Nicky Newman, was known for her positive outlook on life, despite battling stage four breast cancer.
