She surprised her American husband by making a bacon sandwich the traditional ‘English’ way – before revealing that he loved it

In the clip, which has so far been viewed more than 2.1 million times, Caroline can be seen standing in her kitchen as she speaks directly to camera.

Holding a frozen loaf of bread and pack of bacon, she begins: ‘I am going to make my American husband an English bacon sandwich because I went to the Irish shop… don’t ask me how much I spent.’

She defrosts the bread as she explains: ‘There’s a big difference between American and English bread – if you know, you know.’

Caroline continues: ‘Compared to American bacon, you have to put a little bit of oil in the pan because it just has less fat.

‘Obviously with streaky bacon, you don’t need oil. I made that mistake when I first moved here.

‘I prefer my bacon like this but that is definitely just because I’m used to it. This is what we eat back home. I don’t know if my husband likes it like this but he’s going to have it.’

She lets the bacon cook away in a frying pan before turning her attention to making the perfect bready base.

Caroline explains: ‘While that’s bubbling, let’s construct this. This it totally preference. For me, I like loads of butter and just a bit of ketchup.’

The content creator states that the trick is not to toast the bread as she slathers on a thick layer of butter on one slice of bread before adding ketchup and bacon

She says: ‘On the other side, I also buy my ketchup from the Irish shop because ketchup in the US has quite a lot of chemicals in it and I just try and keep them as low as possible for the kids.’

Caroline then adds a dash of hot sauce to her husband’s sandwich before taking her bacon off the stove.

She states: ‘As you can see, there is obviously fat coming off but if I had American streaky bacon this would be swimming if I added oil as well.

‘And then you just plate it up. I like to do three pieces of bacon per sandwich. It’s all preference really, some people add an egg.’
