A furious driver has claimed a car park outside B&M is luring people into leaving their vehicles in a ‘false’ space and then landing them with £100 fines.

Geoff Baldock, 64, said he parked in what he thought was a designated space while visiting Wisbech Retail Park in Cambrideshire on August 23 to do some shopping.

He was shocked to find that one week later he had received a parking penalty charge of £100 during the trip.

Taking to social media to express his outrage, Mr Baldock, from Thurrock, Essex, said: ‘I’ve been sent a parking charge for being parked against UKPC’s terms and conditions at Wisbech Retail Park, Cromwell Road, in front of B&M.

‘I know the parking sign says you must be parked inside the marked bay. But this area had no markings to say you can or you can’t park there.

He added: ‘I went up there today and took pictures. Just be aware of being outside the white lines or in the two unmarked bays, in front of B&M.

One person replied to the post, saying: ‘I didn’t know you can’t park there. There are always cars there and I have parked there many times. I know for future not to now.’

Another person wrote: ‘I am currently appealing for parking in the exact space. My first appeal has been declined just for the reason I did not park within the white lines.’

A third said: ‘I would personally appeal using photos to evidence lack of signage. Just ensure you have the appeal in before the ‘due date’ for payment.’
