Woman charged with manslaughter over Alkimos death

A 28-year-old woman has been charged with manslaughter over the death of a 34-year-old man in Alkimos on Saturday.

At about 6.15am police were called to an address on Minoan Way, where they discovered the body of the man.

The woman was then taken into custody and questioned, before being charged by Homicide Squad detectives.

WA Police say she was known to the man. The woman is due to appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court on Tuesday. She has not yet pleaded to the charge.

The investigation is ongoing and police have not yet confirmed how the man died.

Clarkson Police Station officer in charge Steve Leach told Nine News Perth there had been no threat to the community.

“We understand any death in the community is a shock and a tragedy. I would like to express our condolences to the friends and family of the deceased man.”

Forensic officers spent the majority of Saturday night combing through the Minoan Way home, with the street sectioned off for hours.
