Squirrels go nuts for the snow with miniature skis and snowboards in adorable snaps
IT’S a piste of cake for this group of squirrels — who go nuts for the snow.
Photographer Vadim Trunov, 36, built miniature skis and snowboards for the red rodents — and got them to climb on them with the promise of hazelnuts.
Vadim snapped them in Voronezh, Russia, then edited out the supports.
He said: “I often go to the forest to feed them. They know me. They’re like cartoon characters.”
“I’ve been taking pictures of squirrels for a long time, and I’ve studied all their habits.
“I made the skis and snowboards with an electric saw from a wooden board and painted them, before heading to a forest not far from my country home.
“I fixed the ski poles in the snow so that they would not move. I then placed hazelnuts all around the skis and the squirrels ran up to them and began to climb on them.
“To take a photo of a squirrel jumping from a springboard on skis, I installed the skis on thin long supports above the ski jumps which I edited out to make it look like they were flying through the air.
“The photos make the squirrels look like real life cartoon characters.”
He added: “Children really like these photos more. I think the pictures evoke a sense of love and respect for animals in them.
