Plus-sized models strut the catwalk for Brazil beauty pageant that celebrates curves, cleavage and charisma

STUNNING pictures have emerged of Brazilian beauty queens taking part in the annual Miss Plus Size Carioca beauty pageant.

Held in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday, the competition aims to challenge modern beauty standards.

It attracted 24 contestants aged between 18 and 45.

Brazil's Extra Globo reported Jéssika Lima, a model from Nova Friburgo in southeastern Brazil, won the pageant.

The 26-year-old, who has a degree in management, has worked as a model for two years.

She won a trip to Buenos Aires in Argentina, 1500 Brazilian Reals (about £355) prize money and a contract to be the face of the event's sponsoring brands.





She said: "I'm overjoyed.

"It was difficult because there are so many beautiful girls.

"It is a great responsibility… to represent so many beautiful women."

The pageant was set up by make up artist and businessman Eduardo Arauju, who posted on social media following the event that he "had no words" to express his happiness at the event's success.
